So I've been doing some thinking and have decided to replace my box for an open element air filter, I was originally going to go with an air flow meter adapter intake but wanted another opinion, my question is what are the benefits of going with a whole intake system vs an air flow meter adapter intake besides the price?

Thanks in advance for any help, or advice.

if the car is MAF and not MAP which i believe yours is you cant run an open element with no box because in the lower RPMs the computer misreads the airflow and dumps to much fuel and the car bogs

When I had my 93 Legacy,I went through the same idea. I ended up just drilling/cutting out most of the bottom of the air-cleaner box. Of worked really well. The only problem that I had was that VERY infrequently, on start it would idle rough and stall. That happen about once every two months, and only on initial start. On the second try it would always fire right up. No major cranking etc. It worked very well. It was also a EJ22.
Also tell me how this post looks. This is the first time I have ever posted with my iPod touch. It is really cool!
