Firstly i have the most awesome wife ever. period.

secondly i am aim to build a turbo autocross/daily driver looking about 200 hp @ the crank
so far i am looking at getting a WRX ej20t and using my stock l 5-speed and drivetrain so that there will be less "overall" work to get back on the road

i should have about a 2500- 3000 budget i am very good with wiring and mechanical stuff so i don't figure that'll be a problem

so far i know i'll need or "want":

Ej20T, ECU, wiring harness
BOV love the sound...
Group N Motor/ tranny mounts
exhaust components -kinda iffy on what i need my local exhaust shop is awesome about custom work though
H&r control springs, KYB struts, outback rear sway bar
Front strut brace
GT snowflake wheels

Brakes: ? should i go with the GT two pots or will something else fit under the snowflakes that would work better

Boost gauge, EGT gauge, Oil temp gauge - open for suggestions here

so whats the verdict on my plan? nothing is going to happen with this till mid january other than me saving my spending money, i get finial aid from school i when the semester rolls over and we're getting another leggy for the wife (eeeww auto) so we'll have 3 cars for a short period of time allowing me to have my leggy outta commission for a swap :D

just 200bhp? You can get that on a stock EJ25 with cams (and EL headers, exhaust, cai).

It'll be well within your budget too, even if you buy a used ej25...

Yeah, an ej205 engine only swap is going to be tough in that budget, but it can be done if you shop carefully and do the wiring yourself.

Basically the best place to start researching is going to be rs25.com, swapping into a Legacy is fairly similar to swapping into a GC and there are a lot of good write-ups there.

Depending on the model years of donor and recipient I may be able to hook you up with wiring diagrams, pm me.

that's where i want to be after its in and running, depending on circumstances later on i would like to push futher maybe 250-275bhp

EDIT:
found a wreaked 04 wrx but it was hit in the front what kinda damage do you think the motor took?

EDIT 2:
Whout would you recommend for a FMIC for my leggy?

that wreck wrx will cost around $5000~6000 or more even wrecked. the motor doesnt look like it took any damage. but it looks like it ended up on its roof in the acident. so the motor could have lost oil pressure for time. so i'd say no to the car

Only if you don't have a scoop to begin with. It's easier to go TMIC if you do. Otherwise the cost is about the same to get a new hood and a FMIC...

 Find a ''Haynes Repair Manual'' for Subaru Legacy 1990-1999. It's pretty complet and has over 200 pages of very useful information. I paid mine 25$ CDN.

Here's the link: http://www.haynes.com/products/sfID1/3/sfID2/5/sfID3/71[/url]

have a Haynes book already, it only has "general" wiring diagrams which after having the wrong color for the high/low beam wires i don't trust it for my car anymore
