My newest plans...involves a Fozzy!

So here's what I'm thinking: Replace the trans on the Explorer, maybe install 2" of lift or so and make it look "fancy," sell it, and buy a 1st gen Forester. Buy this suspension lift:

Then, throw on some Scorpion 2" lift springs and run some 29 or 30" BFG M/T KM2 tires. After a while, swap in a couple Toyota 8" solid axles. As far as I see it, to do that, i'd need to reinforce the unibody, get a different transmission, and get a different transfer case (all of which that are somewhat short so that I don't have extreme driveline angles and a short drive shaft). After I swap in the 'Yota 8 inchers, run some 33" tires... :shock:

I've been thinking about this for the past few months, but never actually got serious about it until last week.

I've always had something against lifted Subarus. I guess it's cause I'm a 4wheeler at heart and my first vehicle was (is, I still have it) a Bronco.

That said, they are cool, I just don't see any practical use for them. I'd love to see 33" A/Ts on a Subaru.. My full-size Bronco has 32" A/Ts.

There's a small supply of them left. If I act fast, I can get a hold of some before they run out, and as for the Allied Armament kit, I know that it'll be around for a while since it's so popular.

You should join the USMB http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/index.php for more info on that kind of thing. AA is not making kits anymore and as someone stated Scorpion is out of business. Someone somewhere has a 1st gen Fozzy with a D/r conversion as well as lift kit from a gentleman that is no longer doing work anymore but SJR (SJRLift.com) has been toying with doing an EJ lift kit to go with his EA series lifts. Good luck and definitely post some pics if you do decide to go the Solid Axle way.

If AA really doesn't make the EJ lift anymore, and refuses to make them; I'm going to be pissed (mostly sad though). I wonder what would happen if you contacted them in order to purchase a lift? I'm sure you could get one for the right amount. I want to lift my BG pretty bad now. Their site just says that they are revaluating their products. Maybe if we ask we could convince them to bring the kit back.

AA builds guns and isn't too keen on the Subie world anymore. Every once in a while they do a group buy through the USMB and that's it. Get ahold of Scott at SJRlift.com and maybe he can let ya'll in on whether a lift for the 2nd gen Legacy and the Impreza's and maybe the 3rd and 4th gen Leggy is possible. (He has a lift prototyped for the 1st gen Leggy and says the difference between the Leggy's is the rear suspension soo.........).

So as an update, I e-mailed Advance Adapters and asked if they could custom build an EJ25/Toyota A340H adapter, but no response yet.

Advance Adapters had nothing, but they redirected me to a company that makes one off adapters. I'm actually considering putting in my Explorer's transmission and t-case, since I'm replacing both. Also contacted SJR Lift and asked if he had any plans for a 4-6" lift for the 1st gen Forester. His response:

"about to offer the 1st gen legacy ,once Ive done that I could do the forester"


We'll have to see how it goes from there.
