OK, I'm going to pass emissions tomorrow and I'm not going to have to worry about it for 2 years. I want to get a test pipe and see how sexier my car can sound and hopefully shoot some flames too.
What can I do so I don't get the CEL? is there a way to fool the o2 sensors while running a test pipe?
Peace

dplacencia & sybir are reported as running test pipes without CELs. They're freaks, they are.

a local exhaust shop that made my cat back
Ah yes, beauty of living in Washington? Your car passes the emission tests from the factory and you're good forever!

Add me too that list
I've had my stromung track pipe on now for over 500 miles and no P0420 which used to come on every 50 miles or so.
Get the rallitek rear 02 spacer, that'll do it.

Awesome. that exhaust guy keeps saying I'll get a ECL and he wont listen to me when I tell him I have a fix. I'll show him.
I'll get the O2 sensor spacer for the rear sensor and then I'll go have him make it. I'll see if I can spray the whole headers back with high temp paint to help with the winter and salt and stuff

Most exhaust shops will not allow the removal of a vehicle's cats unless the car is a track only vehicle. Catless vehicles are not permitted in most states - they can only be used for off-road (track or show) purposes only.
What you CAN do is ask your exhaust guy to make up a catless pipe with the correct bungs (maybe even make up an O2 spacer for you) that you will install yourself - that way it absolves the shop of any responsibility should the EPA decide to do an audit on their customers.

He understands. I just have to pay in cash.
He has no problem in making it or even installing it. I'm just not going to get a receipt.
He's a cool guy and a genius when it comes to bending the pipes right.
I can't wait to get that test pipe in. I'll have a full 2.5" headers back exhaust system. Then I'll see if I can post a new sound clip.
