View Full Version : Rear cover plate

There's that rear cover plate, behind the caliper that has a lip over the rotor to keep brake dust away from the bearings and what not.
For those of you that have upgraded to the H6 rear calipers to accommodate a larger rotor; how did you tackle the rear cover plate? The new rotor won't fit inside and I don't want to remove it completely.

You mean the brake dust shield?
You have to remove it.
flathead screwdriver + hammer + weld spots (8 in all each side I think).
Angle-grinder or dremel works well too.

You can just bend it back, plenty of WRX guys that do the upgrade just take the lazy way out :lol:
Stick a pry bar or big screw driver in between the shield and your old rotor and start pushing. Or vice grips...

aww boo.. I was hoping I could still keep it.. hmm.. I wonder if I can buy one from Subaru separately.

Get a grinder and cut the lip off and just keep the back plate.
