nvm i figured it out. for any one who wants to know. the oil seperator plate is a plate located behind the fly wheel,

they were made out of plastic, but they leaked then redesigned to aluminum, but still leaked, then redesigned to steal, and havent been leaking. thats my research for u guys. idont know if its right but the seperator plate is the black plate located on the right of th fly wheel bay.
hope this is right

yah, it doesnt even look like it does anything. is there a random whole for oil to come in and go where?

i know mine might be leaking. if it is would it be possible if oil go onto my clutch? because my clutch will slip sometimes and then catch. could this be the problem or u think my clutch is shot?

its for assembly and disassembly of the engine. it gives access to the wrist pins so you can seperate the pistons and rod then split the case to remove the crank w/rods
and maybe it ruined the clutch if the clutch got oil on it.

Just replaced mine last night. Started at 6 and finished at 11. Probably would have had it done faster if my pilot bearing hadn't destroyed itself somewhere along the line (I swear it wasn't making any noise), plus the clutch was a tad worn, and the pressure plate and flywheel had major hot spots (so that's why I had chatter sometimes) so I had to run to the parts store to get a clutch kit (thank goodness they had one in stock, Subaru clutches seem to be hard to find).

ANYWAYS, it's a long and tiring process to replace it, but not really all that bad if you know what you're doing I guess. It's just a lot of work for 6 screws and some silicone.

aha yahh, im going to do it next week. did u pull your motor wen u did yours?
i have to replave the oil pump seal and oil pan gasket and the vavle cover gasket, and probably do the timming belt and rear main seal, so im just going to pull mine within 3 days to get it done right.

if you do a front main gasket you need to pull the T-belt anyways. if you doing a belt anywas i recommend doing a water pump well your in there

why a water pump?

because it run by the timing belt. and if it ever goes in the near future. you would have to take the belt off again. its just a practice most mechanics do. you dont have to do it. its just preventive maintenance
