Noob from SLC...

Hey guys whats up! I'm new to this forum and just thought I'd introduce myself. I usually hang out on the DI forums and subaruoutback.org and just found this forum today!

I drive a 97' Legacy Outback that I got for free from a family friend with a blown engine. I found a JDM EJ25 motor locally and swapped it in and its been running smooth as butter ever since! I've had a few turboed subys over the years but after getting in too much trouble and needing to focus on school I sold em all.

I haven't done much to the Outback being in school still but the big mods are coming next summer!

Heres my previous subys... A 95' EJ22 turbo swapped Impreza L with a big FMIC, STI turbo, Race seats, and coilovers. And my 00' Impreza RS that was later lifted on Forester suspension with mild bolt-ons.

Nice! I'm on subaruoutback.org, too! (same username) Welcome to SLi! Honestly, I spend a lot of time on SLi now and I need to get back onto OB.org again.

It must just be the pictures? Well I did swap in some struts and springs from an 02' Forester but they were the same length etc. as the stockers so I don't think that lifted it any.

This forum is way better as far as mods goes!

Oh yeah, fo' sho'! SLi is way more mod oriented, where as OB.org is more travel/adventure oriented.

SLi is as good as it's members. Everyone contributes in some way or fashion and helps develop what the forum is today. Lurkers don't help, quality over quantity boys and girls.

yeah, subaruoutback.org is a pretty sweet site. They aren't as into Legacys the way that this site is into Outbacks, but it's still a cool site.

Almost any site is worth joining, it's the whole think of keeping interest to stick around.

Sweet Outback. Equally sweet Imprezas. I've got an RS and a '97 Outback. What all was involved with the JDM EJ25 swap? I'm assuming you kept it NA, did you have to change the ECU? You're '97 would've been OBDII and that Jap engine would've been OBD1. My Outback is converted to OBD1 to run my swapped engine, how did you do yours.
BTW, have you checked out SLCsubaru.com? A friend of mine started the site and it is a great source to meet people in your area. If you join the site, tell ninefourteener that I say hi. He used to live in Saint Louis and started the site because there was no "STLsubaru.com" for SLC, so he made one!

SOB.org is great for OEM infomation, stock repairs, fixes, etc. It seems like there are a lot of conservative older people as most of the pics posted are of trips with nature and the like. Not big freakin' turbos and boostums!

The JDM swap was cake. I just used the long block and bolted up all my stock sensors and manifolds from the old motor. It is NA. No power mods yet as i need complete reliability to get to school.

So far I just have 00' RS seats, recovered door cards, debadged it, and put in some 02 Forester suspension (which doesn't really count as they are the same as OE).

I plan to do the basic engine bolt-ons, rebuild and revalve the tranny, 04+ Forester suspension, bigger tires, all the body work with a new front end and Grey Graphite paint, black painted rims, and some bigger tires to fill the fender gap. While doing the body work I'm gonna open up the front and rear of the fender openings to run some BFGoodrich all-terrains with no clearance issues.

Should be a fun project! I'll post my mods as I get to them!
