have been getting this p0400 cel off and on for about a month now. i have cleaned the egr valve to the point that i'd eat off it. i haven't pulled the feeder tube off the block yet, but, that's this weekend. if, by chance, neither of those happen to be the cause, what would you all check next? pressure sensor? hoses are fine. possibly knock sensor? i am getting a little light crackling sound from the engine when i give it some throttle. :-? usually seems to be a little louder during hot months, but, is recently a bit more frequent. any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

I would do what you did, and recheck everything.

2.5gt, you think i should go ahead with the feeder pipe cleaning this weekend? i think that should fix it, but, if not, besides the sensor, is there something i'm missing? devil's always in the details :twisted:

I would recheck everything again, see if you miss out on anything. and run some Seafoam. There a link in the DIY section about how to use it.

It says it's the EGR system. So since you cleaned the valve already, did you try the EGR pipe yet? And you may have some build up in the intake manifold in that area. Clean the pipe and get what you can in the holes. Seafoam may help too.

yeah reason, i haven't pulled the tube yet. that's tomorrow night. once i pull it off how much of the inside of the head can i actually get to? and should i blow it out with air so the chunks don't clog the egr valve again?

Well I have a member coming by here this saturday. He has the same problem. He cleaned the EGR valve and next we will clean the pipe and intake manifold with some seafoam deepcreep and a pipe cleaner. The opening to the IM is small then it's the port just opens up.

coocoocachoo, i have the seafoam motor treatment to start with, since i'm at work...cool note; i just found out that rx-motorsports is quite literally on the other side of the fence where i work. i've been here for 4 months and only thought it was some performance shop that had an employee with sn sti...heehee, can't wait for my lunch break :twisted:
