What offset will work?

I have stock tires on my legacy (1992 Legacy sedan turbo) right now, 15"x6". I'm looking at getting some 17"x7' tires and was wondering if you guys knew what offset would work.

Last I checked I believe the offset on my wheels is 56mm.

Actually, it's +45mm I believe for most Subie wheels. That's a FWD offset.

+45 is too low and it's not just a simple FWD offset.

Stock 16x7 wheel is +53 offset.

Yeah, my bad, just realized that. First off, I was thinking of newer Subies, and I was even wrong about that, too (+48mm, not 45).

Very few Subies came with +48. The only one I can think of is the Outback with the larger diamater tires. Most Subies came with +55 or +53. The majority of 15X6.5 wheels are +55. The only ones that are different are the 16X7 and the 17X7.5's, which are all +53.

When you get down into the +46 range, even on a stock sized tire, you can have rubbing issues on Wagons. My 1998 LGT had rubbing issues with a 16X7 wheel and +46 ET.

I have a 1995 Legacy wagon (BG) and am now experiencing wheel rub having installed 17" 07 Impreza WRX wheels. Tires are 215/45. I tried wheelspacers to no avail. Am now trying to source JDM Legacy wheels.
