Strut question - 04 WRX + TEIN STech on 97 LGT wagon?

Hey guys,
I have a chance to get my hands on some 04 WRX struts with tein s tech springs for 150 shipped. Do you think these springs will lower the wagon so much so that the wheels will rub the fenders or should I get them and just go for it...?

I think they'd be alright if you get everything assembled. If not, you're dealing with a hodge podge of parts to make it work.

It's not ideal in my mind, but it should probably perform well!

Well included in the deal is the 04 struts and top hats as well as the s techs. My understanding is that the 04 WRX top hats will work in our cars. Either way its pretty cheap so I guess I'll go for it and if things don't work out i can always sell it :razz:

Tein doesn't make a bad product. The "Tein springs suck" crap came from a bunch of knockoff springs people bought off ebay that ended up sagging and being total junk. There's the argument over on NASIOC that they lower the car too much to make handling any good, but whatever.

Exactly, and if I don't like them I can always get different springs right and sell the S Techs

Yes. I just wanted to make sure you had heard what has been said about these before you bought them. I would also think this would cause some accelerated wear on the stock WRX struts, but w/e. If you like them, go for it!

I have WRX stock suspension on my car. When I bought mine I was under the impression that it had to be 02/03 because something changed in 04, and it has to be from similar body (sedan to sedan, wagon to wagon). Mine i think is from an 02, and it bolted right in except the brakelines attach differently.

So are our suspension pieces interchangable, like the 96 impreza stuff will fit on my 96 Leggy?

Pretty much, but there are some caveats. It's not a perfect fit, sometimes you have to rotate tophats, and the rebound/spring rates are not always ideal.
