Oh No, I've been bitten by the foglight bug!

Well, I've always wanted roof rack mounted foglights, but I never got around to it with my BK. Now that I've got a roof rack again, I figured I go for it. This is just a prototype because I wanted to see if I could fit lights on the stock roof rack. Well, it works! The wiring is a little crude and could be cleaned up, but it works. The lights could be better, but I can't afford Hellas or PIAAs right now.

Reuben, you have no idea - when you live in the states, small animals (not talking NZ possum here) and fully grown DEER will jump out on the road... the additional lighting when you go off the main interstates is always good.

A lot of these guys go offroading in their cars too - when was the last time your GTB saw mud in a big way?

In most states however, it's illegal to drive on public roads with these lights on. Moral of the story: do it when there aren't cops around.

I haven't had them on for too long and I don't use them that often. I'm pretty sure it is illegal to keep them on while driving here in Knoxville; they're pretty bright and could be blinding. I'm going to use them for night runs in the mountains, offroading, and various other mountain activities. Plus, I just plain like them.

I'll try and take some day shots of my setup. The mounting wasn't that hard. The lights came with a flat mount that had holes in it. I just took the rubber strip out of the rack, and mounted the lights with bolts, sandwhich style. Pictures will help with my poor discription.

The only thing 'special' I had to do was bend a part of the roof rack so I could get bolts in.

PIAA 6600k HIDS

ROFL. piaa doesnt make hid. and their halogen bulbs are just overpriced. If you had me do a retrofit for you. you wouldnt need any of that and it'd be brighter :-D

thats just projectors. No OEM high beam slot wired up at the time. AND those bulbs are heavily color shifted (should be brighter)

piaa makes HID..? replacement bulbs, and lamps. piaa halogen headlight bulbs improve light quality over other replacements. and why need HID retrofit when you can have driving lights that brighten up a whole mile to see, and ther'ye only 35watt bulbs!

Because you can't use driving lights in traffic - they have no cutoff. Good projectors really put the light where you need it. PIAA bulbs are really expensive, I just stick with Hella bulbs, they're cheaper and also effective.

Also when u open them up i can share a tip with you to make your projectors BRIGHTER for like 10$ at a junk yard!.
