I cant believe how poorly my SUS handles :-( I found these KYBs on Ebay and seems like a great deal. Ive got my hand on the 'buy it now' button unless anyone feels differently.

Im very tempted to go with new springs, but this is my daily driver & will see snow too. I do not want to lower the car at all, and dont want an overly-stiff car. Are all springs for lowering? Expensive?

the SUS uses outback struts ebay kyb outback struts (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Car-Truck-Parts-Accessories__KYB-GR-2-GR2-STRUTS-SHOCKS-SUBARU-LEGACY-OUTBACK-95-99_W0QQitemZ310090340543QQadnZCarQ20Q26Q20TruckQ20PartsQ20Q26Q20AccessoriesQQadiZ2865QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item310090340543&_trkparms=72%3A543%7C39%3A1%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245)
the seller jdmwerks is a great guy to buy from. and for $250 its a great deal figuring the most stores charge $80 for each strut

Holey Crap-Am I glad I asked first  I had no idea Legacy sedan struts wouldnt work on my car. I had so many badges on my car I didnt know what it was :!: Legacy, SUS,Limited,Outback

I do know that I have 20frt 18rear sway bars- I would take Outback springs also?

Depends on whether or not you want to lower the car. If you used REGULAR Legacy struts you'll automatically drop an inch. If you use Legacy springs AND struts then you'll drop about 1.5 - 2" all around.

The main differences you have are the body spacers which changes the suspension geometry under the car - and the longer Outback/SUS struts which change the ride height.

Either way, when you change out springs or struts, get an alignment.

PS. you have a Legacy Outback SUS Limited Edition model aka Legacy Outback sedan.

I still think that a regular legacy is plenty high off the ground, but just for the record if you go with regular legacy springs and struts then the the suspension blocks make your car have a negative camber, -1.0 if i remember correctly, and your SUS wheel/tire combo won't fit with any non-outback strut, you'd have to put on smaller tires.

with 95-98 subaru had problem with the strut perch and the spring could come out of place. so subaru recalled and put spring gaurds on the strut to fix the problem. the only thing i think that different with 95-98 and 99 is they fix the bottom perch so it didnt need spring gaurds

jdmwerks said this; 3/99 in the kyb application guide it shows only the rear will fit, no fronts available, thanks

So looks like only the rears are getting replaced until I can figure this out.

Fronts should be same as any 1995-98 Legacy.

GR2 series 235633 FRONT LEFT ALL To 5/98
GR2 series 335020 REAR RIGHT ALL To 5/98
GR2 series 335021 REAR LEFT ALL To 5/98
