To be honest my front seats are junk. I hate having a bar on my arse as i get in and the side of the seat has some nasty wear.
I can pick up some wrx seats for cheap, but really want to know what would be a great cloth seat to get with a lot of side support for those aggressive corners, I am not a fan of the sti seats comfort wise and just really wanted to know.
I can wing about $250 for a nice set of fronts, and just find something for the rear...so shout out ideas im curious

02-03 wrx seats are probably the most aggressively bolstered US seats. The early GC JDM WRX and STi ones are probably moreso, but they're made for skinny japanese people.
Damn us and our fat, American bodies!!

04-05 WRX seats. Look like the STi seats but much more cushy and comfy from what Ive heard.

Youll find them for as low as 300

for that price, those WRX seats are probably your best bet.
If you're looking for a budget seat, look at some of Corbeau's stuff. You can get a Corbeau Forza, or Forza 2 if you're a bigger guy (fits up to a 44" waist) for under $300. A subaru slider will cost you about $60-80 per seat as well. It's a fixed back seat, but well built for the money...they just aren't certified by any sanctioned racing body IIRC. This will only get you a driver's seat though.
If you're getting a pair of brand new racing seats for under $250, you won't be getting much. They won't be as comfortable and they probably won't last long, especially in a daily driver.

I quite like my USDM 06 STi seats... they fit real nice. I could drive 4hours on them easily.
My stock 98 GT seats are pretty good also, not quite so firm but good side bolsters.

the USDM 04+ WRX and STi seats are very nice. As roger said, you can take a long drive in them and be comfortable. The only problem is that swapping them into a GC/GF/BD/BG will raise your seat height a couple inches.

Yeah, that was one of the main complaints when the first WRX's came to our shores.
If you notice after the 02-03 model year, most of the Subaru seats (be it WRX or STi's) have pretty shallow bolsters, mostly to accomodate the girth.
I'll kind of threadjack here and ask my own related question rather than posting a new thread. If I want new Subaru seats that will lower my seat height and provide plenty of support, what would be my best bet?

None of the new seats will lower the ride height... all of them will provide plenty of "support".
In order to lower the height back to your "stock" level then you will have to a) modify the seat rail
b) swap a seat rail that is compatible and lower than the new seat
I'd be willing to forfeit my electric adjustability if I had to, but could I lower my seat height and keep the electric adjustment?

If I recall correctly, as I did a bunch or research on this because I wanted 04 seats in my bd, you can't even swap your rails over to the seat, or even if it did swap, it was the actual seat that made you sit higher...can't recall which one. The power seats just have like a power and ground running to them too i think, so you may take a look at the wiring. If you got a power seat out of a newer car, you might be able to wire it to work. You'll still sit higher though.

I'm not ignoring you, but can't comment as I've never sat in an 02-03 WRX with stock seats.

02-03 do have really nice bolsters. 04+ are a little less intrusive.
Both sets run anywhere between $200-$400 depending on condition.
I prefer the USDM seats over the JDM ones, simply because the controls are on the correct sides for the LHD.

I picked up a set of '02-'03 RS seats for about $100 and they're super comfortable.

i used to have 03 RS and 04 WRX seats.
Now I have JDM v4 sti seats.
03 RS seats hold pretty well..only thing I dont like is the headrest...Dont feel too comfortable when I lead my head on it.
04 wrx seats hold better on the thigh but not tight enough on the body..but i guess it depends on how big you are.
I am 5'10 with about 150 lbs..so i am not really skinny. :P
I found my jdm sti seats actually hold so much nicer on the body especially I am doing tight corners.
However, the jdm seat sits a bit lower since it is the actually the passenger side (non- height adjustable)

You're a weed. I'm 5'8 and 180lbs.
So at 6'3" and 235 lbs, they'd be a little better for me?

I'm a 38" waist and I had trouble sitting getting into the 02 wrx seats initially. I broke it in though  now it fits like a glove :D

Our 98 has height adjustable rails. What about just mounting Your WRX seats right to the OEM rails?
