Hey guys,
I will be installing some KYB GR-2 struts in the back with some Whiteline Control springs. I searched and couldn't find any problem with the combo. Anyone has this setup, good, bad, let me know.
For the installation, from what i read it should be bolt on, no need for top hats or whatever add-on with this right?
Let me know.
Thanks.

Might want to say what model/year car you have. Just put it in your signature line.

I just installed this setup on my BD and it's awesome.. the ride is amazing, the handling is awesome! I replaced all 4 top hats.. you should replace the fronts at least because those bearings can get seized over time and since it's all a part, you might as well get it done.
You will need to do an alignment as well. The brake line feeds through a metal holder that's welded onto the OEM Strut.. it's easier to get a grinder or something of the sort and carefully cut a slit and bend the metal brackets up.
The GR2's will also come with the same holder (mine did) and it will be easier to make a cut, bend the metal, insert your brake line and bend it back then zip tie for good measure.
The install took me two days because the spring compressor I had was crap and wouldn't compress the springs all the way. It helps if you have a second pair of hands to help with the install.
Very easy though, bolt on, bolt off. The rear doesn't really "sag" but the lines of the car make it look like the rear sits a little lower than the front but it's just a cosmetic look. I think the front will settle over time as well.
Good luck! Oh, this is assuming you have a BD as I do. Might be different on a different model but the same procedure.

You don't need to do any cutting on the brake lines to get it out of the strut. Our BE's are better engineered that way
There's a bunch of BE/BH guys using GR2's with a bunch of different lowering springs. You'll be fine.
The GR2's aren't labeled as an aggressive shock, but it can dampen a lot of lowering springs out there...

Good good,
i was tempted on just buying a set of bilstein for all 4 corners from the B4's in japan but i kinda like the STI suspension up front. Some poeple say it's pretty harsh but i live on redneck roads and it's not that bad. I am just a bit worried about this winter, i'll see if it's too much of a drop in front.

Bilsteins+ Whiteline = uprated STi... IMHO.

Installed in the back some KYB GR2 with Whiteline Control springs and it was a bolt on fit. Very satisfied, maybe not for the front but the back is exactly what i needed. Thanks for the info guys.
