4 wheel axle binding

As I turn on hard surfaces the axle clutches are grabbing and turning loose. The car has high miles. Is there an easy solution?

sounds like it's binding? let me guess you have an Auto transmission?

Torque bind - drain all fluid and replace with fresh ATF and a bottle of Lubegard ATF Protectant (red bottle). Has worked for me on 3 cars of varying mileage.

You will have to drive it a little to make sure that the fluid has a chance to circulate - sometimes this takes up to 100miles, sometimes 5miles.

Quick question - does the problem go away when you put a fuse in the FWD holder in the engine bay slot (this is over on the passenger side near the firewall, and is under a cap marked "FWD"?
(this disengages the rear transfer clutches temporarily and puts the car in FWD drive mode.

If it does go away, then it's definitely torque bind and the rear transfer clutches in the transmission are becoming worn and binding up. :)

I haven't tried the fuse deal. I will also try that before I drain the fluids and give you a reply.
