I have now tested out the car for a couple of days, handling is perfect, interior is like new and smells like new leather.
The automatic heater control is genious.
There is a Pioneer CD deck wich is a relief for me, no hassle to swap for the Kenwood in the BC. Battery is the original from 2001 so i will get a new Kinetik or oddyssey in stead. Engine bay is nice and oil free, some dust but im gonna wash it before the snow gets here.

No photo oportunities because of school/work and early sundown in the wintermonths. But sunday me and my friend will get out early and get some pics of my car and his Saab 9000 CS Turbo.

Airgne:
The guy in the Saab is the same guy as the Laurel in my other thread.

Me and my friend Håkon went out on a little photoshoot sunday night.
Two different cameras and two different photographs so the quality is not the same.

Just installed the HID kit with the relay wire harness.
I did not disable the DRL and there is no problem with it.

Im thinking LED parkinglights and signallights in the front, get rid of the amber bulbs.

Anyone know if i can get white or black sidesignals?

clear bulbs you mean? Sylvannia/Osram makes silverstar turn signals that aren't amber (forgot if they're just clear or chrome coated to match the reflector)....PIAA makes some too IIRC.

Clear/Chrome bulbs with amber light to match the reflector. Thats the idea.
The bulb is amber not like the USDM/JDM with a orange/amper insert.

I don't want to be rude, but the quality isn't crap, you need a tripod in lowlight environments.
Also - there's no need to post several pics of essentially the same shot, a lot of them are blurry.

IMHO this is your best shot:
http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh28 ... C00881.jpg (http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh289/tmjpwns/2001%20Subaru%20Legacy/DSC00881.jpg)

Im getting a tripod with the D80, i cant adjust the exposure on this thing. And that's important in this part of the world. its dark 20 hours a day in winter. And light 24/7 during the summer. At the time i took the pictures i was just on my way shcool and had an hour to kill.
Removed the most blurry pics and the almost duplicates.

Still want some snow oskar?

I don't think it's exposure - it's your ISO. If you set your camera for night mode and get a tripod, set the self-timer for 5 seconds and just click the shutter down, it'll take a pretty nice shot as long as you're not firing light right at the camera or the object isn't lit up too brightly.

Night mode will open the aperture longer, and the tripod will allow a much more steady shot.

I could be completely wrong though!

thats pretty much it, even just setting it on the ground or something else thats not going to move will work fine. and dont underestimate what some of the newer point and shoots are capable of, took this with my trusty canon powershot sd750:

Clutch is nearly gone. I can drive the car but i have to be very carefull. I just got a extra job at the Ford Shop so i will get all the parts i need as cheap as the shop gets them. I can also use the shop in the evenings and weekends to do work on the car.
Im going to order a new clutch later today and hopefully ill have it in before new year.

Also i found this norwegian site that does tuning.
http://www.mobeck.com offers me Stage 1 Tuning for $4700
This kit will give me just a whp just above the stock 2.0 Turbo

Was wondering, what flavours of Legacys/B4s are available in Norway as LHD. Do they offer the HID version of your headlights over there.

Thanks

No B4's here i think. All BE models we have is 2.0GL and 2.5GX.
I dont think they came with xenon option here.

the only thing i can se is that the headlights changed in 02/03
http://img.autodb.no/autoimg/4739134_520x0.jpg
Edit: Think this kind of headlights would fit on my car? the indicator looks neat.

I have just decided to get HID lowbeams aswell as the highbeams, H7 6000K 55w is ordered. Im just swapping the 55w ballast for the 35w ballast in the highbeams giving me moore light in the highbeams. a wire-relaykit has also been ordered.

Just installed the CB. Mounted the antenna at the center top of the rear window, removed the "Oh Shit handle" on the rear left, down the A-pillar, under the kickpanel and into the Radio. Power comes from the 12volt plug for now. Is there any holes from the enginebay to the coupe on the left or do i have to make one?

Will get some pics tomorow.

No magic to mount it:P
Getting the antenna kable from the back window is the hard part.

First you have to get the rear part of the roofliner loose. To do that remove the 3 push-plugs with a flat screwdriver. Then you remove the plastic shroud surrounding the little window. Remove the roof handle on the rear right passenger seat. Pull the B-pillar panel slightly just to get the top plug out. Remove the A-pillar trim and it should be easy to feed the kable up.

Start from the back and work your way forward, hide excess kable in the roof or under the kickpanel.

I mounted the CB it self left of the ashtray and the microphone holder close to the seat.

Had some training with interior trim installing a audiosystem in a Civic and removing the entire dashboard in a Opel Frontera.

You might run into a little trouble getting the rear window shround back in place but you'll get it after a few tries.

Edit: This is for BE's:P

If you havent bought it yet, youll need a DIN mounting kit, and an external speaker unless you have a hole for the sound to get out.
Also get a glass or magnetic antenna unless you arent scared of drilling in the bodywork. I got a glassmounted one and i get 4km range out of it.

this one has a front firing speaker so I dont need external speaker and it is almost exactly DIN sized and i can make a mounting kit if i need. how does a glass mounted antenna work?

The antenna comes in two pieces, one with the actual antenna and one with the wire atached. The inside part sends and recieves the signals trough the glass and into the antenna.
Here is what it mean:

Just got some bad news from the shop where i was supposed to change my clutch, two engine breakdowns in the one window i had. But i just checked with another garage and they have a boom-mounted winch i can use so i will probably start the swap next weekend.

But i got some good news as well, i bought a couple of Bosch Rallye 225 driving lights. And Hella OEM mounts for them. I will probably use HID in them, H3 35w 6000k. That or 100watt Osram offroad use only.

The mounts are installed under the grill in factory holes, and sticks out under the grill. Much better than a license plate mount.

But enough of that. What do you think about the lights? I'm getting a set of Vvme HID lights tomorow, 35w H3 6000K.

Update:
We are now about half way trough the clutch replacement.
The transmission is on the floor, new clutch is in place but I'm going to pick up a new release-bearing tomorrow before we put it all back together. The lights are ready for HID, If my guy got what i need the lowbeams will get 8000K 35W and the aux - drivinglights 55w 6000K and the highbeams will be upgraded from 35 to 55W 6000K HID.

Removal took about 5 hours including an hour of coffee brakes, smoke, lunch:P
But now we know where the things are supposed to go we will probably be done in a couple of hours.

Light mounts fit perfectly and are sturdy as hell. Hooked up the lights with a 30amp relay just to be safe.

Pics and new update tomorrow.

I just don't get it, why my car always get damaged in some way.

Like i said in my previous post i just got it back on the road with a brand new clutch. And just a couple of hours ago some chick backed up straight into the drivers door.
No big deal but she instantly refused to take the blame. I washed the engine bay last night to remove the smell of burning oil and had some extra time on the machine so i washed away the worst filth and checked the car for any damages. Other than some scratches on a rim there was none.
Some people are not supposed to drive, she said she didn't even see me.

I also helped this guy out of the ditch, though he was drunk so i also called the police to get him of the roads.

wow i love your light mounts, do the just screw in the bumper?

Legacy89
03-22-2009, 12:23 PM
Yeah, There is 5 plastic locking pins under the grille, just remove 4 of them and install the brackets.
They are designed for smaller lights but i found a way to use the top-mounts aswell. This just means that i have to remove 2 screws before opening the bonnet.

T_F_E
03-22-2009, 12:46 PM
Thats a pretty awesome design how stable are they? did you buy them or make them?

Legacy89
03-22-2009, 09:48 PM
Its designed for the BE/BH by Hella. They are made for smaller lights but big ones like mine works if you can do with removing a couple of screws before you open the bonnet. I tried without the topmounts first but it vibrated to much. So i got a set of Hella struts or braces(what you call them) to stabilize the lights. They mount on the top rear of the lights and in the back of the grill. So now they are as sturdy as the headlights.

Im thinking about getting a couple of PIAA 520 SMR next winter and just remove the lights during summertime to keep it aerodynamic.

Edit:
The mounts cost like 50-55$
Legacy 1990-1991 8HG 000 609-801
Legacy 1992-1994 8HG 000 696-801

Small update.

I just bought a Parking assistance system with sensors and camera. The plan is to install it along with my 1-DIN Kenwood KVT 729 DVD-player. And when i get the rear windows tinted (5%) the camera will take over the role as my inside mirror.

Also just bought rougeben83's vent shades. (Thanks)

and i got a set of 195/65/15 Continental ContiViking Contact3 for free along with 4 120x5 15" BMW rims. The rims are going to the dump but the tires are better than mine. More rubber and its the Contact 3 instead of Contact 2 which are one the car now.

Just found out a couple of things about my instrument cluster.
1. There is no green stuff behind the dials so it lights up blue.
2. The connection on one of the center bulbs is bad, goes between bright, not so bright and off.
3. Found three bulbs that aren't ideal to swap with LED's. The park brake symbol, battery symbol and ABS symbol lights up slightly not much but i can see it during night.

Also thinking about doing something to the dash bezel. Either paint it in the cars color or black, tone it down with tint spray or get some carbon vinyl.

Tried to install the Kenwood HU today but that didn't work out as planned. Ordered a new ISO adapter, the one i have is a universal thing that apparently didn't work.
I also found a short wire with blue connector that i don't know where belongs. It comes from the passenger side of the dashboard.

Another thing that happened yesterday. I started the engine and locked the doors to let it heat up before i go to work. When i get out 15min later the engine is off and the battery is dead. I'm going to check for errors at the end of the weekend.

Legacy89
04-19-2009, 08:02 PM
Will get pics tomorrow, its to light outside now. The leds i got at a local gas station.
Same socket as this one http://www.v-leds.com/Interior-LED/Gaug ... 41710.html (http://www.v-leds.com/Interior-LED/Gauge-Cluster-LED/Blue-LED/2-SMT-HIGH-POWER-BLUE-p6941710.html)
4 big ones for the speedo, tacho, temp and fuel. And small ones for everything else.
Tough the ABS, Handbrake and Check engine is not recommended to swap for leds because they will light up slightly at all times.

Oh and the low fuel light as well, it's sort of funny to check if you got the polarity right.

Edit: The DVD-Player is inn and working now:)

Momo stands for the design, while polk audio makes the speakers. Polk Momo. Im getting Polk Momo MMC6500 component speakers up front, MMC650 Coax in the rear doors and MMC690 6x9's in the rear deck. MTX9500 12" subwoofer in the trunk. Alpine PDX 2 and 4 channel amps for the speakers and a PDX or my good old Blaupunkt 11.500 for the subwoofer. The Blaupunkt is huge but it delivers 1500watt RMS at 4ohm. While the PDX is small and still delivers the 1000w RMS for the MTX.

http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh289/tmjpwns/IMAGE_010.jpg
It's most likely the return hose to the pump, Now my question is, what gaskets do i need to replace both on the inlet and outlet of the pump.
Do i have to order a kit from subaru or can i get them on a local hardware store?

Edit:
Also got a quote on the damage people has caused me by backing into the car:
Drivers Door: 447$+tax
Rear Bumper: 373$+tax

The door needs to be straightened below the black whatyoucallit, doorprotector thingy. And Painted.
The rear bumper needs to be sanded down and painted.
When i get the insurance money i will save up a little extra and get the front bumper and the side skirts painted as well.
The skirts got a lot of marks and the bumper got a crack after a little accident while parking at home. Also when the rear bumper is of the parking sensor's and backup camera will be installed.

I think they're just copper washers, like the ones you get for the banjo bolts for the brake line. They come in different sizes though, so unless you can get one off and take it to the local autoparts store so they can match it, I don't think they'll be able to look it up for you.

Checked the inlet and outlet for the power steering pump, both gaskets seem to be fine but there is still a painful sound from it. Tried to use some Granville Stopleak but that didn't work. I know the leak is on the top somewhere because the spray mist covers the entire engine bay.
Think the pump is dying?

Also added 2 4gauge ground wires to the battery one to the engine and one to the drivers side suspension tower.
And i removed the relays, wires, ballast etc since I am going back to halogen. Took the wires to the auxiliary high beams as well. (will work out a better cable route during the summer)

Nah, i have allready put in a order from the UK. The dealer down south already got the front ones but it's the rear ones i really need. The OEM one on the left side broke so i removed the entire rollbar.

Mostly suspension work on my todo-list now. Roll-bars, endlinks, controlarms, anti-lift kit. Currently looking for Cusco/Mine's Lower arm bars front/rear and D2/Koni sports suspension.

Also trying to find a old subaru L/P series i can use when im working on the Legacy. Tough everything would be much better if i were done with school and the internship at Caterpillar/Atlas Copco.

Installed my HID's that just arrived. Light is amazing, will have to test it one night after i get my PS Pump installed.

I don't drive my car untill i can get that fixed. Cruising with dad's Rav4 meanwhile. Tough i hope i get it fixed before the snow comes.

I can't drive the Rav4 in winter, the damn VSC almost put me in a ditch last year. It kicks in waaaay to late, the car started to skid, i as usual countered the skid and corrected it. And once it's back on track then the VSC kicks in and almost puts me in the ditch on the other side of where i was heading in the first place.

To dark to work on my car now so ill clean up the cable mess. Have to find a nice spot to hide the ballasts.

It's gonna be a hard evening.
These are the parts going in tonight:
Refurbished PS Pump from steeringparts @ eBay With fresh Sunoco Sunamatic ATF DEX3
Granville Engineflush with fresh Sunoco Xenon 5W40
Cusco Rear Towerbar
Shifter and E-Brake Boot and armrest from Redlinegoods.
I went for Black and Violetblue leather with Red and Dark Blue Quadruple stiches.

The foam sort of curled up on the armrest, have to fix that one day.

The quality of their work is brilliant, fast shipping and no fitment issues. The armrest was a little tight but the rest was easy.

Just installed Paranoid Fabrications Big Three and a Super Upgrade Grounding kit.
Think im going to reorganize my wiring on one of our hobby nights at school. Basicly we get to use the huge workshop/garage and do whatever we want on our personal stuff, like snowmobiles, cars, bikes etc.
Going to ask the teacher if i can recharge the AC on my car since we have the equipment for it.

Ordered new belts for the AC, Alternator and PS pump.

rougeben83
09-19-2010, 03:25 PM
I would also order the little adjuster bracket that the idler pulley bolts onto when you change belts; its made out of plastic and notorious for cracking or breaking off completely if you try to change/adjust belts.

Legacy89
09-19-2010, 04:36 PM
Nothing broke when i replaced the PS pump and retighted the belts. I only managed to break one of the bracket bolts in the block. Could'nt reach it and used a prybar to get the pump loose from the bracket once all the bolts were out. It was pretty damn stuck.

Moved the ballasts down into the front bumper above the foglights.
Installed the new drivebelts for the AC, Alternator and PS pump.
Installed the LED parking lights.

Also accidentaly lost my ground on the lowbeams, did not have any equipment to fix the problem so i drove with my friend in front to my place, hanged my Ledlenser in the grille and got a new kable clamp.

VVME HIDs H7 35W 6000Kelvin (Lowbeam)
VVME HIDs H1 55W 6000Kelvin (Highbeam)
VVME HIDs H3 55W 6000Kelvin (225's)
Bosch Rallye 225

as this diagram presents http://www.vvme.com/page.html?chapter=5&id=70
h7 55w 6k for low beam
9005 55w 6k for high beam and
h3 55w for fog beam

Noo, that diagram shows that the lowbeam is HB3/9005, wich is wrong.
The "GT" or in my case the GX headlights uses H1 highbeam, H7/D2R lowbeam and H3 foglights.

Osram/Sylvania also got this wrong....

Also i use 35w in the lowbeam to be less blinding. I only use 55w in highbeams and worklights on the back of trucks.

Small update:
Endlinks finally arrived, will be mounted shortly along with the new swaybars.
Aligned the front wheels by eye measure and it works just fine. (Only the angle had been changed)
Tires are worn out, all 8 of them so when i swap for the summer tires i will get some new ones, possibly new rims as well.
New wintertires will be Nokian Hakapelita 7 or some studded Continental ones.

Brakes are due to be replaced. Thinking of upgrading but i dont know what i need.

These are my taillights:
Upper row:
tailight/brakelight | taillight/foglight | taillight/foglight | taillight/brakelight.

Tein Flex Coilovers w/EDFC

Isn´t the rules about car´s were strong in Norway...I heard of guy from Iceland who moved there and was going to put coilovers in his car and he needed permission from some car inspector.
And when that was done he was not allowed more than some X tire size.

It's stupidly strict, mine does not have the required papers (Tüv) so i can't get i legal, however, i can swap them for each inspection once every two years.
None of the fun stuff is legal here.
lift kits need papers.
hid kits need correct lamp housing and automatic leveling of the headlights.
coilovers need Tüv papers
no tint on the front doors.

The list goes on and on.

Christmas vacation and mods related to the roadtrip.
1350Km trip in 13-16hours stopped for fuel three times in Finland and Sweden, used less than 3 1/2 tank. Filled up my quota on beer, spirits and tobacco before entering Norway again. (muuuuuuch cheaper)

In the pics you can see the latest mods:
DT 35w 6000K HID Lowbeam
DT 75w 4300K HID Highbeam
DT 55w 3000K HID Foglamps
Rigid industries Dually D2 drivingbeam (amber for fog/snow conditions)
Rigid industries 20" E-series drivingbeam (white but with amber covers for the same conditions as above)
Got another set of white D2's on the way with amber covers to fill up the lightrack.
Hella 3-LED sidemarkers with clear/silver finish to match the headlamps and side indicators.

Also got a butload of tools while i'm near a bigger town.
Found a universal cigarette lighter/12v outlet that is either going in the trunk or another convenient place.
Still got some spare cash so i think i'm going to take another round to see if there is anything else i might want/need.
