I currently have a 2008 2.5i special edition and was wondering if it is possible to swap the leather, power, heated seats from a 2005 GT limited in the place of the stock units. I have the seats and rails and was wondering if by some bit of luck the wiring is already there...... please help.

Probably. If you already have the seats just take one out and drop one in.

Oh, and you'll need the on/off switches for the heating controls too. Did you remember that?

I haven't picked up the seats yet, so I was hoping to have an answer before I went through the trouble of getting them. I already have the switch I was going to check and see if the wiring is under the little tray where it would go. I can't imagine that there is much difference between 2005 and now but you never know.

I highly doubt the wiring is there. I mean you would need at least 3 plugs under each seat for power up down, back foward, tilt. Then for the heated portion there is 2 scroll wheel switches integrated next to the ebrake. Do you have any of these?

I have the seat heater roller switch assembly. Typically in mass produced cars it has been my experience that it is cheaper to put the wiring in for options even if it may not be on the car. It cuts time and costs by stream linning the assemby procecss. I was hoping someone would have had the seats out or the console out and could tell me if this is infact the case. I know that the fuse box has the wiring and empty fuse places. I just was being lazy in checking the rest of it out.

The motto around here is that lazy board members get ignored.

We're all about hard work.

Very funny...... being a newbie I'll take it. I started checking into it this afternoon and it looks like everything is there to do it. The fuse box actually has the fuses actually installed it appears that the harness are under the seats. The only thing I am not sure about is there is a black relay under where the switches would go, that is the only thing I can't figure out, any ideas?

My BE has the wiring for power/heated seats and it didn't come with neither from the factory...

It just dangles there under the seat

Take a look under yours and you'll be 100% sure.

subaru in is wisdom (unlike a lot of car companies) have an almost universal wiring harness. If you take the steering wheel off of your 08' SE, Limited, or even GT you will see that there are Wires ready for a Plug and play. the same should go for the Seats. Now! under the seats on your 08' there is an extra wire for the Sub woofer. I believe it is on the Passenger Seat. (from what I have heard it isn't bad and improves the sound inside the car and not on the out. just makes it better to drive and listen to your Tu-PAC or what ever the kids are listening to these days. back to the original post. Earlier this year I had been looking into doing some swaps on my 08' SE and found that the only real tearjerker came for me. you have the auto-climate controls and thus are able to have pretty much free range with steering wheels that are stock including the GT's and also the seats. Behind your wheel (100%) and under your seat are the Plug and play controls. good luck.

LGT.com is AWESOME!

http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=97257&highlight=seat+swap

there is a bunch of hoop-la on the forums as if seat swaps work or not! my personal word of advice is if you do swap....swap from the same year...05 to 05, 06 to 06, 07 to 07! Where the problem comes in is when you try and do a 06 into an 05. Yes subarus are pretty lego like but not too much when it comes to seats and the newer legacy's! It sucks b/c i have some baller JDM GC8 WRX seats!
