chrome grill trim fix

anyone figured out a reasonably nice looking solution to the flaking chrome trim crap on bg/bd grills?

im thinking about covering it in chrome tape and then clearcoating it, but i wanted to see what everyone else had done first.

Sanded, painted "trim" black.

I lightly sanded with 1000 grit sandpaper then sprayed it with black plasti-dip--it's a rubber/plastic coating for tools that works awesome on interior bits, so I figured I'd try it on the outside too. Finish is a satin black, home depot and lowe's carry it.
