were would be a good place to go to get material to make a diffuser? what type of meterial should i use?

diffusers are truely illegal for street use in most places. and it depends on you skill with resin. fiberglass is easier to mold than carbon fiber.

the 07? STi had a diffuser mounted on the rear undertray... the GTR has this also.

Ok, so similar to an undertray/skidplate?

If that's the case, I would go with a 1/8" thick section of polyurethane plastic, tap and drill your mounting holes and then you should be done.

The major issue with front end lift on these cars is because there's so much empty space under the engine and to the sides.

were would i get a sheet big enough? is this a solid peice or is it moldable?

You can also do Carbon Fiber and paint it if you'd like. If it's the lower splitter style.

Went this route for functionality. It actually ends just ahead of the front wheel underneath.

We've also done this to a 94 BMW 850.

I'm sorry, we don't make them. You can order them from a few companies (i'm at home, but will try to get u more info when I go back to the shop)

The ones we get, you have to send them a template (made from our masking paper :wink: ), and then they custom cut and smooth them. They even send you the pistons and all the hardware. Total turn around for us has been around 7 business days.

Any machine shop would be able to do up one based on a template as well. You could use a piece of cardboard...

There's skidplates out there specifically for the BE that do the same thing and give you actual protection on the front. Rallyarmor, IPD, Primitive and a couple of others make them for a couple of hundred dollars.

Hell, I made one out of sheetmetal from Home Depot because I'm a cheap bastard.

It's not that complicated either way.

If you mean a rear diffuser (ie something that channels air as it exits the underside of the car to help create low pressure, and thus downforce)...

That's a splitter (a real one, not the stuff all of us buy for street cars).

And as far as protection...That's not really going to protect your engine from anything but water and small gravel.

You can always make one out of fiberglass, that's what most people do... check NASIOC, some guy made a full rear diffuser for his STi with that.

We have nothing to do with building or making these. We only use them for certain builds that we do. We bring in the car, make a template and FEDEX it to the company that makes them. They in turn, make one- pack it up with all hardware needed and send it back to us. Usually we ask for carbon fiber, but depending on your application you could use anything you'd like... fiberglass, sheetmetal whatever.

I would suggest using carbon fiber for it's weight, style and rigidness. I'm sure you'll get tons of other suggestions... this was my opinion.
