My $26 all Subaru junkyard 2.5 intake

I'm not a huge fan of the ebay intake, I don't like the look of cone filters and with the maf issues at WOT that some report I didn't even want to mess with it. So here is what I came up with.
While wandering the junkyard for random scooby goodies I came across a 2.2 with a new-ish looking K&N in the box so I snagged the goods.

Here is what you will need.
-Early 2.2 air box
-matching intake tube
-hose from the drivers side head to intake tube
-two other small hoses from the 2.2

I didn't get a pic of the 2.2 hoses before I threw it all together, but here are the ones that come off the 2.5. The longest came from the driver head to intake tube.

And the other two attach to the 2.5 intake here, if you have ever taken a 2.5 intake off before you should be able to figure it out.

I like it because its all OEM, Its cheap and the parts are easy to come by in the yard.
And I figure if it flows good enough for the 2.2 turbo it should be fine for any NA 2.5, and I chopped the bottom of the box for the full effect.

I hear you on the OEM look.. I got a buddy with a dieing 2.2 from a brighton.. I think I just might swipe the intake from him.. Looks much better then the 2.5 setup

If anything keep the stock air box and use a aftermarket intake tube. Next time I hit the dynos I will do a comparison.

That's what I did with mine, ebay intake and stock box.

Works great and no CEL after resetting the ECU. Don't forget the snorkus delete while you're at it.

Defiantly better than all that junk on the 2.5 intake in any case.

The later revision is the way to go if you can find one, they were fitted to the 96 GT. Biggest advantage over the earlier version is that you don't end up with the 2 90 degree bends in the airflow path right at the maf.
