2nd gens Total gas milage

Everyone that drives a BD, BK, BG please post you total gas milage. I think I miscalculated my MPG at one point and I've been living a lie.

No matter if you drive a 5 speed or an automatic, a 2.2 liter or a 2.5 liter please post your total gas milage.

Please correct me if Ilm wrong but I think we ALL have the same tank size right?

Tank size is 16.9 gal... but if you fill up when your empty light comes on, you will never put 16.9 gal in. More like 12gal.

Right now I'm at 19.3 but I think it may have something to do with the tankful of Seafoam I put in there. We'll see with the next fill up.

Typical mileage is abour 21.5-22 for me. All hills from my house to work and back, never going above 40 mph.

I get about 23-27 depending on how hard I drive the car and how much highway/ city mix I do. I have a '97 GT Legacy with a lot of miles on it.

I get on average 24 to 25 in the city and about 30 on the highway (knock on wood).

If you really want to know your gas mileage, fill the car full every time you fill up (doesn't matter how much is in the tank). Write the odo reading on your receipts and keep them. Then do some simple math.

To figure your gas mileage you need 2 consecutive receipts. The miles travelled is the difference between the odo readings. The gas used is the amount you put in on the second fillup.

Assuming your odo/speedo is accurate this will give you the exact mileage. Saying you get x miles per tank is going to get you in the ballpark, but it's far from an exact way of calculating mileage.

For those who are interested, here is the pre-swap mileage for the Legacy:

As you can see, the car averaged 22mpg. Short stop-go trips resulted in high teens, and on the highway I was getting 26-28.

AussieDan-- That's to the point. What's it like so far, Post-swap?

I've got a 2.2L Auto. My driving varies as well as the octane level that I've been using. When gas was at $4.5 a gallon, I was using 89 octane with a bottle of octane booster ever other fill up. Now that it's back down (for now), I've been going back for premium and will be changing my fuel filter (again) and changing my plugs soon.

I drove it for the first time 'post swap' at 7pm today. Only put around 6 miles on it so far and need to get the LC-1 hooked up so I can log it and get the tune dialed in, right now it's running a very conservative base map.

Once I start driving it more I will be keeping track of the mileage :wink:

187 93-octane Fillups w/ EJ25 turbo setup: 17.6 mpg

And that was running the turbo setup for months with dead O2 sensors running pig rich :lol:

I've gotten as low as 16.8mpg average on a tank in my Legacy
I've gotten as high as 33mpg average on a tank in my Legacy.

Formats don't translate well into a thread. I have a BH which is heavier . I commute to work from Waterbury to Brookfield on workdays which equates to 300 miles just for work a week. I've had the car about 5 months and already put 10k miles on the clock. Some of the low mpg are for towing a trailer which drops it into the low 20's. I warm the car up every morning for over 5 minutes as part of my routine before work. Longer when it snows.

I get the best mileage when I drive under 70 mph on the highway and try control my lead foot which is difficult on this under powered POS (it's not that bad, but I'm used to 300hp and more torque n/a).

Total mileage per tank is around 300 if I really stretch it, but that's rare. Like I said before though, a lot of uphill driving and cruising below 40mph.

I get an average of 20 all around. but i drive to 4500-5500 rpms quiet often, when i cruise on highway or take it easy i can get from 24-28 (IF i baby it, but i usually end up playing with random cars on the highway)

Last tank I was getting about 19 mpg. Tank before was 25 mpg, but I was doing a lot of highway driving. If I'm in the city, I'm doing good to get 275-290 miles out of a tank. :-( On the highway, 300-325 is a good tank.

I know. I try. really I do, but I can't stand staying still in traffic and it's not that im later or anything. I usually make it to work 10 to 15 minutes early. It's just the fact that I can't stand having my car idle on the highway where the speed limit is 65 and I'm doing 0

Not 2nd gen, but I have an overall average of 20.3 mpg from all my fill ups. I never run the tank anywhere near empty, though. I always refill at about 1/2, so I can't give you a miles to the tank figure.

well i get 24-25 avg on combined sprinted driving. though i did get whole 14mpg my last fill up.. cheap friend puting in no-name gas. oh well ran the car to fill up a whole 15.3 gallons for under $38

Yeah i figured whenever the fuel light comes on i have about another hundred mile before i run out. i am getting about 24 around town and the high 20s when on the highway. but hey gas is cheap now so i can drive it a little harder.

These numbers mean essentially nothing.

Here are my average numbers:

Summer gas -
City: 24-27
Highway: 28-32

Winter gas -
City: 21-24
Hwy: 24-28

Since mid-October, my gas mileage has dropped 1-2 miles per gallon. Between the oxygenated fuels and cold air, it is making a difference.

I also got my lowest mileage ever pulling a trailer with 2 bikes. 16.9 mpg :shock:
I need to cut down the loading ramp length so it doesn't act like a sail at highway speeds when up.
