Questions about 93 Legacy Turbo, upgrade turbo and IC

Hi all,

i have a 93 Legacy Turbo and iam looking to upgrade the turbo to a bigger one, iam wondering if i can use any of the VF series turbos from version 2-9 STI?? are they bolt on or i need to find turbos from certain model of Subarus?

also, i wanted to add an intercooler, is it possible to use a WRX one and will there be alot of work involved?

can anyone shed some light on this? thanks for any inputs. :grin:

93 legacy turbo i'm affraid isn't very descriptive. Is it a US SS, or a JDM gen 1 RS/GT, or is it a JDM gen 2 RS/GT

93 was the cross over year for japanese models.



I am guessing buy the comment "i wanted to add an intercooler" that it's the US 2.2L SS, if so, well yes, any STi turbo will fit. Older ones from JDM STi's will be a much easier fit. Newer ones are slightly though painfully different, but still entirely possible to use - and worth all the fuss. And yes you can add an intercooler

Oh, just make sure the turbo is single scroll, and not twin scroll.
