Check out page 1 and page 3. He does Ebay VS stock VS aftermarket. Very interesting!

Funny stuff, I can't wait to get my modded ebay intake on now. Ebay intakes are going to go like hotcakes!

very cool, but I've got a custom intake design going that will blow all that away ;)

Hopefully :?

that's funny.

The box makes a big difference in the 500-2000rpm range.

Too everyone I have argued with about intakes and their effectiveness: OWNED!!1!

I should get one of these for my Forester!

ok, so anybody i can send one of these to that can get it to fit a 99 2.5GT?
I'm not exactly skilled at pipe bending or welding in case i screw it up.

it should fit fairly well, but if you're worried, buy some silicone sleeves to make it attatch, you won't need a pipe bender or anything.

Also see the DIY forums, PWT did a write up on installation.

Interesting, Id like to see a dyno with the hood down and the car already warmed up.

Someone on NASIOC actually did a comparison and said that there's not a lot of difference between the fenderwell and the engine bay when the hood's down. I don't know if that was with an open scoop hood or what. I'd say after opening your scoop, your engine bay would be a good deal cooler.

i think using the stock airbox (with a snorkus-tomy) is probably the best option.

personally, i don't like the idea of leaving the hood scoop open for water & debris to get in when there is no need for it.

i opened up my hoodscoop and i have had no problems with it. i did it just for fun and to say i did it but i think it will make a difference once i put on my ebay intake. what filter should i put on it? k&n? what size?

IMO opening up the scoop wouldnt affect anything. Its not like the engine bay is watertight anyway. its completly open from the bottom, theres the massive holes in the bumer and grill, etc etc...

Very interesting results... My intake is an eBay no name tube & MAF adaptor pieces w/ an Injen (K&N) filter on the end I had laying around as an extra and a exact copy of the Injen sticker installed on the tube to make it look "expensive"... Total cost involved - $35 w/ shipping. Can't beat that with a stick huh?
