Just wondering how smart/stupid it would be to remove my heat shields. I think my new midpipe is rubbing against the heat shield because it squeaks when I hit a bump and when I'm at certain RPM's. Pretty loud squeak too.

I only remove the heat shields from the header... the heat shields above the midpipe shouldn't be contacting anything - there's a good 2" clearance.

Gotcha. When I was attaching the midpipe to the axle back I had to pull the midpipe down to get it to match the axle back and I think it may have popped up a bit. The angle of my exhaust tip is a bit off now too, it used to look straight from behind, now it's to the side a little.

I was messing around with mine the other day too.. and seems like my header ones arent even causing all the noise.. so.. not sure which ones to check next.. dammit i hate heat shields!! LOL

Yeah I just have to take the time to crawl underneath it and see what's rubbing.

well you should probably get ur exhaust on right first...

but if it still raddles you can take them all off just dont park on grass or anything flamable or you will start a fire

I'm not sure how it could be on incorrectly but we'll see.

The lower heat shields that were wrapped around the stock pipe are still on the stock pipe. I didn't put them back on the Stromung midpipe. I was talking about the heat shields between the pipe and body of the car.

leave the top half of them on. (ones above cat/mid pipe). the mid-pipe bottom ones get rocks stuck in them and they rattle. the header ones are also known to rattle over time. all Subarus are victim to this crap. they complain a lot of the RS forums about it too. Just get a full after market set up and be done with it!!

Working on it, one section at a time. Stromung high flow cat will be next, probably sometime in late December. I'll crawl underneath it tonight and see what's rubbing if I can. It's weird that it does it at certain RPM's.

mine did it at 3100 rpms only when i let off the gas and it went downwards. when i installed my headers it disappeared. you will eb very happy with the high flow cat. the sound and power increase, mine deff did

Yeah I'm really looking forward to that. Not looking forward to getting underneath the car and messing with those damn springs again though, haha.

could also be that one of your hangers is loose or not connected at all...

check by the cats that's where mine was rattling. I just had to reattach a bolt behind the 2nd cat.

Yeah I crawled underneath it real quick and the only thing I could easily see is the heat shield above the muffler rubbing so I'll try to bend it a bit.
