A buddy of mine got me an sti tag for a graduation gift because he knew I am planning a wrx motor swap on my BE GT. But due to the absence of funding this will not be happening for a while. I was wondering if it would be legit to put the tag on anyways or would it not be condoned by the subaru world. In other words would I get made fun of for having an STi tag on my legacy that is nowhere close to an STi or would it be cool. What do you guys think?

I would make fun of you, most wouldn't. Do whatever you like, it's your car. To be totally "legit" you need a STi engine

I have posted on many forums over the years, on a range of different topics. Springfield XD's, Volkswagens, Jeeps, never have I seen a forum where so many people were so worried about what other people thought.

Its your car, what ever.

^^ mad street cred yo. Put it on if you want... but you then have to spend $5000 to justify a $20 tag.

I have STi seats, STi axleback and "JDM y0" wheels... there's a USDM STi badge on the back of the car that the previous owner put there. I haven't bothered to remove it.

Seriously man? Have you ever been to VWV and read ANY of the trash they talk over there?!

Most people on any of these forums care because if not they wouldn't post at all. It's not a bad thing if someone cared for another persons opinion.

Hopefully I can become completely "legit" sooner than later.

the 'it burns when i pee' meaning?

My opinion is, if it's as powerful, fast, or good handling as an STi, do it. As in, if i beat STi's consistently with a stock 2.2L at autocross, I'd feel like I 'earned' it more.

300+ wheel torque coming by spring, so i'll be getting a pair. Though a 'blitzen' badge would be far more my 'style'.

You don't need the engine to make your car STi .. Any subaru can have STi components which technically makes it an STi.

But regardless average people don't care for the technical specs and turbo's they just want to see the badge and the fancy wheels.

There are those rare occasions when enthusiasts will criticize you

Too each their own.

Personally... no badges look the best..

To be blunt I think its really ricey. I hate seeing a civic with "Type R" badges in the same respect.
Your Legacy is not an STi, nor is it close to being so. The $30 badge can wait to be put on after a $5,000+ swap.

Ya, seriously. I have been a member on the Tex for a couple years, though I haven't posted much since I sold all my VW's.
And whose talking trash, I was just making an observation about the number of "is this cool?", "am I gay for doing this.." threads.
Point being, if you like it go for it.

I don't think i'd do a badge on the car myslef. I have STI centercaps on my wheels and that bugs me a bit. Your car though.
