View Full Version : Stupid rocks!

I keep getting rocks stuck between the front pads and rotors whenever I go in gravel. I swear sometimes I THINK about gravel and the next thing I know, there's a piece in there. So my question is this: is there anything at all I can do to cut down on the amount of gravel that gets in? I'm sure it must be beating up the brakes.

Don't drive on gravel. ;)

Ok, seriously? The only thing you can do is put some kind of cover over the back of the wheel/brake assembly... complicated and a lot of work to fab things.

It has a dust shield thing on it already, so I'm thinking I could remove that and replace it with a bigger/better one?

And I don't know why I didn't think of slotted rotors as being able to fix that. :-? I should've thought of that BEFORE I got 4 new solid rotors!

its has to be a very small rock to get stuck between the rotor and pad. smaller that .100". it might be a rock getting stuck between the dust shield and the rotor?

The little guys stay in there for quite a while, even at high speeds. It seems like if it were stuck in the dust shield, they'd come out sooner and with less issue.

time to fab something up! good luck, sounds like a pain having to deal with it all the time.

Okay, well as an update, I never got around to fabbing anything up, but it just suddenly stopped. I've been in the gravel a lot more since then, too. It's weird, but I'm not complaining about it, that's for sure.
