I know it's been a long time my fellow SLI'ers. I have been way busy with school and work, and have had very little time for fun stuff in between.

Sad news. Today on my way to work a GMC 3500 with brush guard tried flirting with my car. Result is a broken left tail light, broken center garnish, dented rear hatch and a dented/scuffed bumper.

I have an extra set of tail lights from moclovflop that I'd been trying to sell on craigslist to help ends meet, good thing I hadn't sold them yet.

Anyway, just had to share my frustration and wanted to say hello too. I am still alive, and so is my car.

On the plus side, I'm applying for a job in texas as I will be graduating in May with my BS in mechanical engineering. Woo woo! First major post graduation purchase plan: 2004 Forester 2.5xt or a Volvo V70R

That sucks. Hope everyone was all right. Did you get any insurance money or not?

I know the same feeling to. I also got rear ended a couple of weekends ago. I didn't have as much parts damage, but if you look close enough you could tell that it pushed the reinforcement up which then pushed the quarter up with it mis-aligning the trunk and rear door.

Sorry to hear about that PWT. Maybe you can get the guy's insurance to cut you a check and then you'll be able to keep the money for the tails and garnish. That garnish was more expensive than the trunk when I got rear ended a LONG time ago. I think it was like 325 bucks or something like that.

PWT, that really bites. I hope you can get your BK back in order. Was the guy who hit you cool about it, or do you think he'll be an asshat; insurance wise?

DAN! Haven't seen you on here in about forever! Sorry to hear about your wagon.... that blows. At least you have the lights and the hatch & bumper can be found easily enough.

I take it the truck drivers insurance will be covering all the costs? How 'bout pain and suffering? Have you gone to a doctor/Chiropractor yet? Whenever you get hit you've got to milk it!

Peogoby, funny you have the obama sig...

The truck driver was a lady, maybe 40's, with two youngin's in the back. She said her foot slipped off the brake. I think she saw the turn lane next to us driving away and thought we all had a green light. Anyway, she was pretty flaky and wanting to do the "handle it personally" thing, said her husband had been unemployed for 3 months and just found a job... That's when I noticed the McCain sticker and laughed.

I wanted to say her week was about to get worse tomorrow, and how if McCain really were elected her husband wouldn't be keeping that job. Or mention that Obama's tax cuts would negate the cost of the wreck. But I kept my mouth shut.

Anyway, I'm hoping I can go ahead and do some foot fork and get estimates around town. Grab the most expensive and then after the check is cut, hunt down a wrecked green wagon and steal the parts I need. There's plenty of subarus and my color is quite common. I can also use the local Maaco as they do a really good job, and because the car is losing value and will be replaced within the next few years... (or kept and gutted for autocross fun!).

Everyone was ok, including her small kids. That was the most important. It's more frustrating than anything. Especially with my busy schedule. I have school, or school + work from 8am-5pm monday through friday. On the plus side, I really need some new tires. So maybe I'll have some extra.

Well, at least there's a little bit of positive to be seen in this situation. Sucks to hear about that. When I saw this thread, I thought it was just a repost of 97legacygt's incident. Keep us updated with how the repairs go.
