What gives the WRX transmission it's heavier clutch feel in the pedal? is this a master/slave cylinder, pressure plate or transmission engineering difference.

I don't understand how it could be the transmission, as pushing a throw-out bearing can't really be different on different models correct? I mean, it can't have resistance otherwise no worky... But I'm no engineer.

I ask because I come from the wonderful world of Euros and I'm so close to selling the car I love solely because I can't tolerate the light clutch feel anymore :!: I can't drive my own car!! Haha, if you've driven a manual BMW, you'd know exactly what I'm talking about and used too. Those things will give you sore calves, no lie.

Background: Scoob is a 2000 Outback.

It mainly has to do with the fact that the wrx has a 'pull style' clutch while (most) n/a engines use a 'push style' clutch.

I know what you mean about those euro clutches though. The second car I ever drove stick in was an 01 Porsche Carrera 2 w/ a 6spd. Stiff as hell, but feels great.

But what makes said clutch stiffer, the pressure plate I'd assume. I don't really want the extra grab of aftermarket stuff, just the heavier pedal, this is my outback daily.

I thought all the Hydraulic transmissions were the same clutch actuation style and it was the cable clutch that was opposite?

^ nope

my advice is by a spring, and put it behind the pedal.....

it depend on whats different with the wrx and n/a. the pressure plate(wrx) has stiffer spings to hand the extra power. and also the bore/piston could be different on the slave and master making it easier or stiffer to push too.
ive driven bmw's (80-07) _25's and i dont think they have stiff pedals.

Stop working out, wear heavier shoes.

Haha, that got out of hand quickly... First I'll try fixing my Corrado... but when that doens't work  , I might try some sort of spring, although I don't think it'll be quite the same :-?
