I flew to portland one way and came back with a smoking, oil leaking radio-less ride. first order was to seafoam and give her a once over detail. soon after that I claybared and waxed her back to life again. trust me, this poor leggy was not taken care of till now.

parts are ordered and I should hopefully be running on a leak free, slightly higher compression engine by sunday! I will be looking into an intake and exhaust setup next.

its gotta mean something if i'd rebuild an engine before fixing my no audio problem

heads got decked, sti headgasket, valve angle grind, port and polish heads along with new timing belt and all new seals!!! does 500 sound like a good deal? i should have my baby back this afternoon. since some jerkoff stole my floor jack and jack stands I have to have my transmission flushed and diff gear changed by someone else, oh well. she should be ready to roll for winter. stoked

$500 for all that work is a STEAL.

well, it will end up being more like 600 but we will see.
appariantly decking the heads along with the sti headgaskets causes too much slack in the new timing belt so we are working threw that at the moment. I should have my lgt back on friday night.

so it all went in, they had to fab up a longer timing belt tensioner to take up the slack due to decked heads and sti gaskets. no piston slap. My rod bearings are done, apparently the po used heavy ass oil to cover up the knock. Now I gotta pull the motor again and replace the bearings/rings and everything else. at least I'll have a brand new engine after all of this. I might add that I got a complete turbo back sti exhaust for 150 bucks with 15,000 miles on it. not the best deal, but I'm still stoked. once I do headers and figure out how to make the hood scoop functional w/o messing up the maf, I should have a bonifide sleeper. after all of that, I'll need to do some suspension work. I dont want to go too low, but ??? will wrx stuff fit? what are the results? I'll be learning about that here soon.

could have gone manual, but didnt want to. I just came from the e30 world and now I'm diggin the "sitting on the couch" feel that I get from just letting the at do its work.

and yea, my connect is the shit. If anyone wants decked/ported and polished head work done? I'll look into it. Turn around on mine was hella fast and it looked like you could play soccer on them thangs when they were done. figure 2-3 days max for the work then add the shipping time to that. I'll let you guys and gals know what my results are once I get my car back on teh road

Don't bother making the scoop functional with the MAF. It's been tried and all they got was a wet filter and a hiccuping engine.

Let me know about the headwork that you have available, I'd like to see some prices on 3-angle valve jobs with port n polish.
