I recieved my JDM headlamps and got them correctly wired up. went to connect them to the car to test and the drivers headlamp when on high beam had a dim high beam and dim low beam. I checked over all of the wiring and seems fine.

I tested it to the battery and it is wired correctly. So I took a tester and checked the connector on the car. When on low beam, the the test light lit up when i touched it to power and low beam. When I tested for the high beam the power was very dim and no high beam. What doesnt make sence is when the connector is connected to the bulb on the car it lights up low and high beam. The passenger side is perfectly fine. Any ideas? Any advise? I would greatly appreciate it.

The car is a 1996 Legacy L wagon.

how do you have it grounded? also measure the voltage to the headlight.

again for 2nd post. our cars have negatively wired harness. they share a common positive, and the switch to turn on the low/highs is a ground.

ALSO if you wire up your DRL correctly to the JDM lights, when you turn on your high beams the DRL turns off. if you want i can also share how to make your blinker/RL alternate (jdm drl)

check the DYI wire job!!

Thanks for the responces. I cut the plug off of the JDM lights and wired in a male H4 harness. I followed the guides on here for wiring up. I left the city lights disconnected when I wired everything up. It only seems that the OEM H4 connector on the drivers side is messed up. I hooked up both of the JDM lights to the passenger side to test and both worked fine. I also jumped the JDM lights straight from the battery and seems fine. I noticed that the wires on that were on the drivers side of the car had a slight burned look to them but nothing burned through. I may have my mechanic look at it. Also the car does not have DRL's.

I have this same problem with my headlights.....I got the jdm projectors during the summer and wired them up following the DIY post and the first time I wired them up they were stuck with the high beams and the projectors were on too, but I couldn't complain cause they were putting out some serious light, but after getting flashed a bunch of times I decided to fix the wiring. After rewiring it I thought I had fixed it because when it was on the low beams setting the projectors were on and when it was on the high beam the high beams were on.....so it seemed like it worked well... but after driving it a few times at night I was really disappointed with output of the high beams....and until now I thought thats just how the lights were....but after getting fed up with the light quality I decided to try and fix it....so upon testing the voltage to the lights I was getting a good solid 12 volts to the low beams....but when I tested the high beams I was only getting 4 volts to them....I have been stumped ever since doing the test and cannot figure out what is wrong...


Does anyone know what I can do to fix this....? If so it would be a real big help, with all this terrible weather right now I am pretty much driving blind.
