Im possibly interested in adding seat heaters to my 98 LGT. I remember reading a post about the actual wiring already being present in our cars. Im looking to take the actual seat heater element out of a Outback and installing them in my seats. Has anyone done this/have any input on whether the car is pre-wired? TIA

The car might be pre-wired but the seats are not.

Been wondering this myself.. how many wires do the heated seats have on them as opposed to the normal non-heated seats?

looks like you need a fuse, a relay, switches and seats.

it will be easyier to just buy a seat heater kit online and then tap into your main harness where the wires ould be for the heated seats if you had it. i am positive that they sell these kits online for pretty cheap. ebay would be a great place to start.

or better yet 04 wrx seats w/heated option, shouldn't be hard to wire those up, plus i know theres poeple who have them installed.

check it http://www.heaterseats.com/products.php

good luck

More fun to just eat more and have a huge arse.

Ok ok, that's not helpful.

Might want to scrounge them at the salvage yard? that way You can get the wiring/switches?

So does anyone know what is involved in installing heated seats into a car with non-heated seats? Anyone have any info on this? I want to get some heated leather seats for my car.. just dont know whats involved in installing them.

based on the answers above, you need the extension wire harness, switch, relay, and the seats.

Or you could go aftermarket and tap a 12v wire...so basically the same thing.

Yeah.. what exactly is the 'extension wire harness'..

does anyone know if the BD's are already wired up for the heated seats? i'm guessing they probably arent.. since when I pulled my center console off before I never saw any plugs for switches.

The extension harness is what the OBS' cars have that is different from a GT - they have the heated mirrors + heated seats. There is a harness that is installed from factory (but you could probably find it if you look hard enough or talk nice enough to a good dealer).

The non-SUS or OBS vehicles are NOT prewired with this harness.
