Was wondering if anyone can help me with lowering questions for the 93 and 95 Legacy Wagons. It has been very hard to find drop springs for either of the years and I do not want to spend thousands on the coilover kits. I have heard that different years and some Impreza parts can be interchanged. I am new to the Subaru world so any help is appriciated. So far, they both have intake and custom cat-back exhaust systems, WRX wheels, 93 has front and rear drilled and slotted rotors and both have cut factory springs as of now. On the 93, I cut 1 3/4 coils out of the front and 2 out of the rear. Rides pretty good with new KYB all the way around and is even. In the 95, I did 2 coils in the front and 1 3/4 coils in the rear. I need to replace the front struts as they are gone (bad before I cut the springs) and the front end bounces everywhere but the rear is fine. Anyway, just wondering if anyone knows of a company that makes just the springs or a coilover kit without the struts at a reasonable price. Also any suggestions on any other year or Impreza springs or struts that will work. Thank you.

boxer4racing.com has KYB struts for your 95. They are $349.00 for all four, but you can usually find better prices on eBay and also get just the front or the rear from eBay. boxer4racing also has springs for Legacys, but does not specify if they are for the first or second generation. You could contact them and find out, or somebody on here could maybe tell you.

I do also believe, but not for sure that you can you Impreza struts/ springs but you HAVE to make sure the tophats are from the same model as the springs are. This is my understanding of it, but somebody correct me if I am wrong.

Thank you for the info. I did check E-bay last night and found the front KYBs for $140 shipped. But I still want to learn a little more about my options before I buy just in case there is a better combo out there. I do not want to buy the KYBs for the Legacy if the Impreza strut and springs work better, etc. Anyone that has experamented with the different set ups, please let me know what your take is on the different strut/spring set up. Thank you all for any info.

I found someone selling a pair of front struts from a 05 Legacy GT. They are the factory ones with 20k miles on them for $40. Does anyone know if these will fit on the 95 Legacy I have. If they do, I will get them as it is only $40 vs. $140 for the KYBs. Any feedback is greatly appriciated.

The 05 LGT struts will likely fit but I am a big proponent of buying parts made specifically for the vehicle.

You could try fitting the 05 fronts, I'd like to see the results. You'd only be out $40.

Also, I recommend replacing all struts at the same time. It's just a good habit, and keeps everything fresh.

Hey all, the rears were replaced right before I purchased it (about 3000 miles ago). They were replaced with factory ones from the dealer along with a new clutch and timing belt/waterpump. I don't understand why they did not replace the front ones at the same time as the fronts were shot. Maybe I will try anyway as they are only $40. Just thought that someone might already have tried it and knows for sure that it does or does not work. Again, I appreciate everyones input, if I can help with anything audio related, feel free to ask as this is the line of business I am in.

Found some 04 WRX struts and springs with 15k miles on them for $75 for all 4. Does anyone know if these will fit on my 95 Legacy Wagon? What else would I need to install them if they do.

Do the springs/struts come assembled with tophats? If so then there's nothing else you need. They'll bolt up.

That I will ask them, how about the 05 Legacy GT front struts? What do I need for these? Thank you for the info, very appreciated, need to get these done asap. Jason

Try it and see. Be a pioneer. Just stop cutting springs.

Got the 05 GT front struts in and the 00 WRX front springs in. They fit perfect, needed to zip tie the brake line to the strut as the mounting is different and little struggle to compress the spring. Ride is pretty good, a little stiffer than expected but I think it is because the WRX spring is a little taller than the Legacy spring and I had to compress it to fit it in. But all in all, it went pretty easily, took me about 1 hour and 20 minutes to do both sides. Now looking for some replacements for the rear and I am set.
