Fuel Gauge issue

Last week I got a new filler pipe because the old one was rusted through. The check engine light was off since then.

Yesterday, I went to walmart and when I came out and started the car, the CEL came on and the fuel gauge went down to empty when I knew I had a little over half a tank. Checked to see if it was a gas leak, but nothing. The gauge started to go back to where it should have been. Now, the gauge is working fine but the CEL is still on.

Any ideas what it is? I have yet to go to auto zone or something and use the scan tool.

sounds like the fuel sender is on it's way out.. but I don't think a bad fuel sender would send off the CEL.. get the code scanned to see what it is.

So No clue what was wrong with it but the CEL just disappeared today and the fuel gauge works fine...

Problem fixed I guess...

the code is still stored in the ECU so you can still have it pulled.

autozone wont charge you for having a code pulled... better yet invest in a code reader.

yah i have the same problem but without the check engine light coming on. its been doing it ever since i got the car. if you find out what it is let me know.
