Winter wheels

What is the best way to store tires and wheels for the winter?
Stacked on top of each other or side by side?

Stack them straight up on top of each other, otherwise the tires will warp funny on the bottom side. Stack them with the outside of the wheel facing up.

If you can bag or insulate them too, that helps to stop the rubber from deteriorating from the cold.

Yea, if you can bring them inside and put them in the basement or something to keep them from drastic temperature changes outside or in the garage. They will be fine probly, but you never know.

I stack them as sheepdog said but I deflate the tires a bit as well. Also I clean them up and wax them (they probably look better in storage than on the car! :lol: )

get some cardboard to put between each tire. some times the tires leave marks on each other, this way you dont have to clean them up in the spring.

When I store tires, I take them off and give them a good cleaning, then wax the wheel. I don't put any tire dressing on them, but rather put them in trashbags and tape them shut...this will keep the tire from deteriorating/dryrotting (may be a problem depending on humidity and length of storage). Then stack them with a piece of cardboard between each wheel, and under the bottom wheel (it gives it something to settle into rather than a hard floor). Keep them inside.

I kept a set of wheels in storage like this, rotating which wheel was on the bottom every once in a while, for over a year before finally selling them. The guy I sold them to is still running the same tires with no problems, so it works for me.
