Ok. I was tryn to figure why the low beams on my JDM headlights are way brighter then the high beams. While lookin around under there I found a home style 110 volt male plug. I followed it all the way to the driver side into the engine block. What is this dealie???

Wow...that's awsome! Is there any special way to use it? How long? Will it get too hot?

you live in California. You don't need any engine/battery warmer...

Yes yes, if you live in alaska you don't need A/C. But isn't it nice to have? Plus I like to travel to tahoe in winter. Ill use it then

Nope, just plug it in and make sure the connection is sealed watertight. You can leave it plugged in for as long as the car is sitting there. It's a heater coil, it only has one temp. Warm.

Keeps the coolant warm so that it circulates in the block preventing premature startup-wear.

If you're smart, keep an extension cable in the car so that if you're staying overnight somewhere (or at work!) you can plug the car in and keep it nice and warm.

This also helps in other areas because it means the heater core has less time to warm up to produce hot air for defrosting windows and heating the air in the car.
