Just wanted to make sure there weren't some hidden bolts to remove the headlight assembly on my 96. (I stole this picture from purdue's member's ride page). Are the two bolts above the headlight the only bolts needed to remove to take the lights out? I don't want to have a hidden bolt and start unscrewing something, like, the beam adjusters. I realize the lights pictured are two piece, where mine are a single unit, so I will have to unhook the turn signal wiring as well.

I am going to be refinishing the headlight surface and don't want to get near the paint. I won't be able to tackle this until night either, so I don't want to be searching for a bolt with a flashlight.

I'm not sure about the USDM lights but my JDMs have a 3rd bolt in behind the grill that goes straight back.
You can't see it in that pic, but once you pop the grill off you can't miss it.

Yup there is a third one on the inside of the headlights, take off the grill and you will see it. Once those are all taken out if they are the one piece headlights you will also have a stud holding it into the fender which will just slide out with a little wiggling.
Peace,

There's gotta be beam adjusters. That'd be some in-fricken-credible manufacturing tolerances to pump out so many vehicles and have all their lights bolted just so that their lights are pointed horizontally and vertically at just the right angles. I hope there's adjusters. My left light is sagging. With the car pointed at a wall there is a 45* angle of light sloping up to the passenger side

I had a hard time getting the grill to unlock from the headlights on disassembly. It uses a locking tab which points towards the motor so to remove you have to pinch the tab for it to release, only there’s no room to gain access. So I just removed the three (3) bolts from each headlight then detached the lights & grill together as one piece. Obviously once removed you can separate the grill to make the reinstall easier. Anybody else have this problem?

They pretty much covered everything with the 3 bolts. Not sure about the 2 piece but for ours we have a metal "bolt" that snaps in a plastic slot in the fender. It just keeps the corner nice and snug. As for the grill mine comes off pretty easily. Let us know how you make out.

Nope, not me.
I removed my 2peice lights with no problems, just unscrewed the main bolts on top, pushed a screwdriver onto the securing tabs, and popped the grille out (did the grille first).
Headlights came out easily. Remember to unplug the wires etc and disconnect the battery (ok maybe not necessary).
I took the liberty of spraying my radiator black when my headlights were out. :)

I plan to mesh my grill as well, so taking it out won't be so bad. I'll be tackling this this weekend, so I'll let you all know.
