Hello!
so here's my first post:
I have a 1998 Subary Legacy Station Wagon. The remote control for my power door locks will not work. My car was delivered in Switzerland but I hope the wiring is about the same so you guys (wherever you are) might still be able to help. My car does not have an alarm, but it has the factory immobiliser. The keyless entry system is factory, it works with infrared, and all it is supposed to do is open or close the door locks (no horn, no blinker, no nothing).
When I got the car there were 2 keys but none had a keyless entry button. But the car did have the infrared receiver between the reading lights. So I called the last owner. He said that he used to have a key with the keyless entry button, but it quit working even with a new battery in the sending unit. He lost the key with the button later on.
So i went to the junkyard and found a 1997 Legacy, I got out the sending unit (up to 1997 they had a separate sender that you carried on the keyring) plus the receiver. I put a new battery in the sender and installed everything but it won't work. So I checked the wires to the receiver. There's a green plug with 3 wires. One had about 6 Volts steady. The other two hat 0 Volts so I think those are the ones that should trigger the door lock actuator to close or open the doors.
Even when I connected the wire with 6 V directly to the other two wires there was no reaction. ( I used to have a Citroen with a very similar system, and there it worked)
Does anyone have a clue? I downloaded a wiring diagram but that's a completely different one with a buzzer and an alarm and stuff. I think my system should be very simple, but it still won't work...
Thanks in advance!
