Clutch Creak

So my car is making a loud creak every time i depress the clutch pedal. So I followed the instructions on Northursalia to "cure" clutch creak (lubricating the clutch fork and the piston in the slave cylinder). It seemed to work a little bit, but after a complete cycle (warm up, cool down) the sound is back and just as loud as before.

So you all know, there are no negative effects on performance as far as i can tell, the clutch catches fine and does just what it should. I am just getting annoyed with this noise. Anyone else have this problem? Know how to fix it w/out pulling the engine or tranny?

There's also creak under the actual clutch pedal. Try putting some lube in there.

I don't hear it in the car though, like it's much louder with the window open or with your head under the hood. I'm almost 100% sure it's no the pedal box (call it 99.9%) , but i'll grease that up too just for good measure. Thanks for the help huffer.

would buying a new slave cyl. be a sure fix? or could it possibly be the fork instead/also?

Hey I just wanted to update on this one - under the pedals the clutch mechanism actually goes from left across the floor to the right and goes through the firewall behind the accelerator pedal. There is a piston in there that needs greasing too. Also, up behind the clutch pedal is a large spring which can also need some grease.

I did both of those today and the creaking is gone. All I hear now is the annoying chirping from my throw-out bearing. *sigh*

what kind of product did you use? Just regular old bearing grease or something?

I actually used brake grease, it was what I had lying around. I don't recommend it, it smells. :lol:

use dielectric grease. no smell and is a good lube

I use hi-temp bearing grease on mine. Any grease would do TBH, just get it in there.
