losing tranny fluid!!!

so it started yesterday on the way home. my 95 automatic started slipping a little going into 3rd gear. then today on my way to work it gotten worse. i made it home limping it but i heard it slipping. then when i did make it home i shut it off and heard something cooking underneath. turns out my fluid is leaking onto the catalytic converter... :smt017 :smt021
im not exactly sure as to where its coming from yet? im just wondering whats above the converter that could leak from the tranny or what i should look for? i been wanting to change the fluid so i guess its a good time now right?? :smt013

input shaft seal. pan gasket, solinoid cover, vent cap
just add some fluid. clean it off and run it for a min or quick drive and then look for the source of leak.

what a pain!
i started hunting down my oil seal and found it. got all my fluid and began with the exhaust. although i have to cut one of the bolts of because it decided to strip on me. for some reason my cutting wheel isnt liking me today so i took a break and will finish tomorrow. all i got done was 1 FREAKIN exhaust bolt!! :smt006 :smt011
then i was forced to start X-mas lites with my GF.
anyone replace this seal before? im just wondering what its like?? screwdriver to dig the old one out maybe? do i grease the new one?

screwdriver(just be careful) the old one out. and lightly tap in the seal evenly

got it. what an easy fix!
once i got my air grinder fixed i cut off the stubborn rusted exhaust bolt, removed the exhaust, removed the heatshield and removed the 4 bolts holding the driveshaft on.popped the shaft out and found the leaking seal wasnt even seated in place. i went ahead and used the new one even though the original one looked fine. used a big socket and rubber mallet to seat the new one in and voila!@ prestoooooo.....
filled her up with some full synthetic fluid along with some lucas tranny stuff and it shifts like a dream now!!

so im wondering if maybe the seal was pushed out from pressure? before i drive it much im going to check the pressure relief hose to see if its clogged...

The only additive I would add for an auto tranny in a Subaru is Lubegard ATF Protectant.
