I'm not trying to be an ass, but I'm not sure how the makers of subiesport would react to their magazine being scanned for free use. It does carry a copyright, and I'm not sure how those laws work. I'd just rather see the magazine bought so that subiesport can continue to be made...I'd like to see the mag stay around for a while.

somehow i fail to see how a small forum of 400+ members where only a handful actually frequent will cause the fall of an established magazine. as it stands its like one guy bought the magazine and then passed it around to his group of friends.

I would tend to think that Subiesport would actually like it. It's like free advertising. They are a growing mag and don't get that much coverage. As long as it's not somebody saying something negative about their articles or advertisers, I bet they'd be down. Especially if it's from a past issue. It's not like you can run out and buy the April '05 issue now.

That and the nearest place to me that sells Subiesport is like 75 miles away. :?

April of 2005 mag. The whole first volume is also available on CD for jsut under 20 bucks so you can print it yourself if you so wish. And why drive 75 miles when you can have it delivered to your door for much less than the newstand costs?

And as I said, I'm not trying to be an ass. Past issue or not, the makers of Subiesport STILL have a copyright. Copyrights don't expire once the magazine is no longer for sale. Most people downloading music aren't making money off of it, but yet it's been ruled as a copyright violation and people have been sued for downloading it.

As far as posting this on a forum of 400 goes: many people here are also members of NASIOC, which has 90,000+ members. One member posts this there, and now you've distributed the material to 90,400+ people. Just some food for thought.

I think it's perfectly acceptable to have a copyright. They posses the information and want to sell magazines based on it. You pay a small fee for that information. It's completely fair in my eyes. they put time into making a writeup and publishing it, and they should be paid for their work.

The writeups here are free to every person because we do this as a hobby and share the enthusiasm, plus we all get something back from each other.
