So I found my old Panasonic out of my VR6, but it doesn't have the wire harness that it came with. Do I order a new harness from the company, or is there some sort of adapter I can get that goes from the car's harness to the headunit?

See if Crutchfield.com has one... otherwise you'll have to match the HU's wires to your Subaru harness, that requires cutting the Subaru harness and makes easy removal of your HU a PITA.

your talking about the harness pluged into the hu itself? umm depending on how old the HU is you might be able to get on from the manufactor. or just search the internet. other Panasonic harness might fit also

Yeah, the H/U's wire harness. I got it in '04-'05 I believe, so it hopefully isn't too old. I was just hoping if there was some sort of adapter that you can plug the car's harness, and the H/U's harness as well.

You might want to try this. Go to a local radio/sound shop and bring in your head unit. Tell them you need a wiring harness to be spliced for your specific Pannasonic (they'll want to look at it) and your BE (I take it that's what you want it to go in). If they have the connectors, they'll splice it for you. It will cost you the price of the harness (should be no more than $30) and what ever they charge for the few minutes of work. That's what I've done with my head units.

This seems to be the most logical thing to do...So I think I'm gonna do it haha. Thanks :smt023

So, if Panasonic made one connector from '03 up and Subarus come with Panasonic, then what's the problem?

different harnesses between aftermarket and oem models. subaru panisonic made HU's are custom made for subaru use a factory plug for the HU found on most subarus. aftermarket HU's are just generic harness for custom applications
