Yesterday, I was going through this huge-ass mud puddle near my house when I decided to try something different for a change. Next to the puddle is a little loading dock thing. The loading dock goes straight out and the ground slopes down beside at it about a 15. I decided to do a little Ramp Travel Index style testing (RTI=test of a vehicle's suspension flex, distance the vehicle travels, divided by its wheel base, then multiplied by 1000 for it's "score").

So with a friend of mine as my spotter, I traveled down this "urban RTI ramp." My goal was to stop once I lifted a tire off the ground. So I started off and kept going...and going...and going. My car flexed like a champ. I finally stopped because I was afraid of rolling it on its side, not because I lifted a tire. The inside edge of the passenger side rear tire was just barely making contact at that point, but it was still on the ground nonetheless. My friend was telling me that when I opened the door to get out and look at it, the whole car swayed and he grabbed the roof rack just in case it was going to go over. Now if only this thing had more ground clearance!

Thats what happens when an automaker spends a little time in researching and developing a very capable chassis. Good stuff.

Nice! You need to do it again and take some pictures. And you wanted to sell it............

I had a similar experience with mine. A good friend of mine and I were out driving around one time when it was raining (perfect time for a drive in a Subaru) and he spots a muddy, leaf covered hill. Of course, he says I can't get up the hill. I made if up three times. It was awesome.

I didn't have time to measure since there was some guy watching us from his house and looking kind of pissed off at us. Today after school, my friend and I are going back to take pics so we'll measure the run and calculate my score. I suck at estimating RTI scores, so I really couldn't even guess.

So does this make my car a Subaru Outback RTi?

Took pictures last night, but couldn't find the right cable for the camera, so it could be a few days until I get them up. Got a few good ones, though.

Didn't forget about the pics. They were taken on my friend's camera and he just got kicked out of his house, so I'm trying to get a hold of someone to get the camera.
