Steering wheel removal... w/ air bag.

Are there any precautions i need to take in removing a steering wheel that has an airbag? ive heard horror stories of it blowing if 1 thing sparks something else?
Is it true? or just a urban myth?

As far as sparking and such like that, i think if you find the right harness that goes to the airbag and disconnect it properly, it'll be fine to remove, but i wouldn't do it without a more technical answer.

You have to disconnect the battery first, and let the charge dissipate. At least 15mins. You also need to disconnect the SRS sensor/brain box...

I'd be keen to give it a go, but I'd wear a facemask and a helmet, because I'm paranoid about that stuff. :)
