IT IS EASY.
nothing special about it you'll need a 10,12 and 14 mm socket
disconnect the + pos lead from the battery
use the 10 to remove the (i forgot whats its called) lead from the top of the alternator
use the 10 to remove the bolt on the left side on the belt cover, use the 10 to remove the bolt that holds the AC cover to the main belt cover, then use the (14 i think might be the 12) to remove the right alternator bolt, there is a nut that goes on the back
use the 12 to remove the belt tension lock/left alternator bolt
then make sure you in plug that last plug on the alternator and push down to loosen the belt and then using the 12 loosen the belt tension adjustment bolt all they way down and your good to re install

You'll need a Ratchet with 10mm and 12mm sockets, and at least a little tiny bit of common sense, this is a very easy job.
Edit, ^ he posted a great little right up. I forgot about the belt gaurd things, cause I've never put them back on haha.

i never changed one before untill i came home from the races one night, i took the altinator off my other car, took the one off my daily driver and put on the new one in less than 15mins @ 1 o clock in the morning with just a flashlight, i had to go to work the following day :D
its easy as pie :p

I just replaced mine in about 15 to 20 minutes. You should have no issues. Loosen/remove all the bolts, might need to hammer on the alt a bit to drop it down on the bracket if it is stuck but once tension is relieved it will come right off. It is very easy on our cars and there's no reason someone should have to pay to have that done. If you have any questions post them up.
Good luck!

disconnect the + pos lead from the battery
Good write-up, except that part. ALWAYS remove the - (neg) cable first. Less chance of sparks when you unhook, and you're not likely to end up welding your wrench to the body of the car if you slip and end up with the wrench touching the body and the battery terminal at the same time. (Unless you really slip somehow and end up with wrench on positive terminal and body of car.)
