overheat from snow in grill

I was playing in deep snow today bashing through meter high drifts and I clogged my front grill with snow, then overheated the car, it never stopped running but the coolant was smoking from overflowing outta the overflow bottle. should I be worried about damaging the engine? I refilled the engine with what it lost, about 2L of coolant right away. The head gaskets were replaced like 6 months/6000 km ago.

i have overheated the crap outa mine atleast a few times, dont worry about it until problems appear. but my 2.2 has still been running strong and taking beatings...

yeah last weekend, on the way to my parents house, they live in ski country, no had plowed the road, and i was driving through snow that litterally was comingup over my hood it was so deep, of course then my lights started to dim,.... and the car stalled!


its fine now but i had to wait a couple of minutes before it starts

That heat guage is a dummy guage. You're seeing it overheat when it's already pretty hot. I would suggest stopping every once in a while to clear out the snow from in front of the radiator when you're in deep snow. The more you overheat, the more likely you are to blow a headgasket.
