Has anyone else done this swap? I have tried to install the Sti gauge cluster into my tubo Baja (same as BE platform) although everything appears to work the speedometer is not reading the speed correctly. Not sure if I need to change the VSS or find a way to adjust signal from the VSS?!?!

Not sure if this is relevant, but are your wheels/tires the same profile as the car the gauge is from?

What year is your Baja, and what year if the gauge cluster from? I am curious as I have thought about ding this also.

I think that is much more than relevant

I know it can be done since i have a JDM STI cluster in my BE but unfortunatly i don't have a clue how they installed it and made it work, sorry.

Are you located in Canada..........since the gauge is in KM/H. Is your gauge cluster the black faced one or the white face? I know that the black faced gauge only goes to 240km/h whereas the white face goes to 300km/h
Although tire size would have a lot to do with it................it wouldn't put me out as much as 20km/H.
I'm thinking that the VSS is different between a north american legacy and the jdm legacy. The VSS on a usdm STi has 4 pulses per a revolution of the driven shaft. If someone has access to a JDM manual for a BE could you tell me what the pulse count is for the VSS on a manual transmission.

I had exactly the same thing happen when I installed my 02 UKDM STi cluster in my BG. The speedo didn't work at all. I needed a new speed sensor from a US wrx, now it works fine. Hope this helps...

ask andivic, he had one in his BE before he sold it. AFAIK, it's minimal wiring to make that fit. And yes, it will read km, even if your car originally reads MPH (for any future posts).

They are the pin locations for the cluster. The pins on the left are from the stock usdm cluster and the pins on the right are from the jdm cluster. So now you have the usdm/jdm mapping. You have 2 options, you can repin your stock cluster harness or make a plug and play adapter so that you can transfer the jdm cluster from car to car with ease. For the adapter I used the plugs from a stock cluster in order to create the adapter harness. Of course those plugs , you have to solder off the stock cluster. I can show you a pic of the one I'm building if you want.

i would like some more proof.
to me speed is the same no matter where you are. if its kph or mph they are the same. if you look at your stock dash it has kilos on it, and they are in the same place as the jdm clusters. also a scangauge II could straighten any questions on this.
from what i remember when put one in freinds car the cluster plugged in no wire cutting needed.

Hmmm i have this same Black Face Clusting coming from Japan as we speak. I figured it would be straight plug and play myself since all the plugs are the same and i would think the wiring would be too. So looks like i need to do some pin swaping to get this cluster to work but i think i might just try to plug it in first without any modding to see if it works.
Also found this sweet thing for us US/MPH guys! http://www.iaperformance.com/product_in ... ts_id=2241 (http://www.iaperformance.com/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=&products_id=2241)

Well now am really confused.........................................
Looking at my C plug it shows 18 pins on the JDM cluster but mine only shows 14. LegacyB4RSK posting up a couple postings up USDM--JDM shows only a few pins and not every single pin. REALLY REALLY confused now. If i do the fibuz link to the write up it do n't have enough pins. Someone please clearify!

Yah I found that weird as well, my auto BFM has 14 pins for C connector and my 5 speed BFM has 18 pins for C connector. In any case, no worries since only 2 C pins are used on the JDM anyway C1 and C11.

Well YamazakiSubaru scanner isn't working so am pretty F'in screwed right now to find out the correct wiring. He gave me a Manual 18pin connector diagram, I need a 14pin JDM Auto and 14pin LHD US diagram.
Or atleast a lay out what what pin numbers is plug A, B & C is cause doing JDM whatever JDM Plug Letter/Number to US Plug Letter/Number isn't making sense right now at all to me since i DONT know the lay out of what Letter/Number is what on either Clusters.
How is the US Layout of Plugs similar to this JDM Maunal one like B1 to B16, A1 to A30 and C1 to C14.

Well this is how far i am now... Still a good hour or so but CANT finish it now cause Pin layout isn't making sense to me from AZAWD.org PDF file, I don't have certain pins in a lot of these JDM locations on a US harness.

Got it running, everything works fine! Stupid airbag light staied on even pulling the cluster and checking the wiring for some stupid reason so i just put some black tape over the light and put the black face back on. Also running the cluster after about 2 min, blew/lost the gas gold ring and the rpms top half was already out right when i first fired the gauge cluster up. Wondering if they are easy bulb change or unable to change those.

Did you wire the airbag control module to C11 on the JDM. I think there is an error on the diagram, the fact that your airbag light is on confirms this, mine is on as well. I had received the pinout from the guy that originally built my harness for my auto cluster and it show it as C8. Try that and let me know.

Nope, i had it all installed. Ran the cluster for a good 3 days, and just got tired of the realizing am not in MPH, other then that the cluster was perfect, nothing else matches the white faced cluster though either so yeah, sold it for cheap just so it won't collect dust in my garage.

I have some troubles.
The place where it marks the doors doesn't work and the rings do not light up.
I'm thinking it could be related since its stopped at the same time. Any idea?

Did it get shipped? Check the bulbs. What problems are you having with the gauges themself.

Well it worked when I first installed it. Then the door indicator and all the rings are not lighing up. I reinstalled my OEM cluster and the door indicator lights up so its in the wiring or the cluster.
I really don't know were to look since its ALL the doors and ALL the rings :smt021

Well you are MT... I was AUTO so that might be a little different on the wiring. Did you try LegacyRSK wiring like the 12th post in this thread? That might be for MT but yeah you need figure out the VSS pin which i have no idea cause i dont have a MT Wiring diagram but am sure someone does.
