View Full Version : JDM Projectors- City Lights?

I've heard that there are "city lights" on the JDM projectors. Do these lights need to be wired up? If I get a set, I'd like to mount some LED's in their location (assuming there's room for a 1" hole) as well as put some LED's in the corners.
I stole this pic from Warrior's DIY thread:

I'm assuming the city light is the connection to the right of the corner lights?

They don't need to be wired up... but you can just split the wiring from the dual filament indicator bulb to wire them up a la parking light.
And yes, it's the small bulb connection to the right in the pic.

Mine came with (194) L.E.D.'s They lit up blue tho. I swapped them to amber, now to pure white. Wouldn't you put strobes in there for what you do? just a suggestion.

Yeah Okin, that's exactly what I plan to do. I was just making sure that's the location for the city lights as I would like to put my new white LED's in that location. I just wasn't sure if they were required to be wired up for the rest of the lights to work. I'll take my current red LED's from the corners of my lights and put them in the corners of the projectors.

How do You get away with running Red LED's in the front? Is illegal, except for emergency vehicles?

My personal vehicle is considered an emergency vehicle when we get fire calls. I have a state permit to run red and white warning lights on my vehicle as well as a siren.

I paired my city lights with the 12V power wire so they stay on with the high and low beams.

I've got my lights sitting next to me and that looks like a prime location for my white LED's. I should still have room for the red LED's in the corner.

I'll see what I can do. I'm hoping to wire them up tomorrow, pending garage space. Video is usually hard since these strobe quickly, but I'll certainly give it a go. I still have to figure out the pattern and the sync that I want for the lights. I think I'll have it where the left headlight flashes white while the right corner flashes red and then vice versa.

Haha yeah it can be. Other times it's scary. Too many people freak out when an emergency vehicle comes through. It's especially scary when the roads are shit (like yesterday) and people are too afraid to get out of your way or even come to a stop like they're legall supposed to.

theres a way to wire it, so your outside bulbs (1156) and your jdm stock running lights alternate when you turn on your blinker, but stay one when you have running lights on!

I have my city lights hooked up too. I put on PIAA led's on there. I tapped into the side blinker harness. They look really nice.

Thats interesting! Mines an ex-firefighters "emergency vehicle" he's also the mechanic who rebuilt it and sold it to me. Must make good "emergency vehicles".
Mines a wagon though...
anyways,
Nice....

Well it hasn't let me down so far. The AWD is critical in responding in inclement weather. My Jeep was good too, I didn't have to worry as much about snow depth as I do now.
