I'm a couple of days away from ordering a Stromung High Flow cat and remember talk of needing an O2 spacer to avoid throwing any codes. Where could I pick one up from?

Subaruparts.com has them forsale. http://www.subaruparts.com/catalog/?section=824 about half way down the page, "Titek CEL Boss"
Or you can just type it into your favorite search engine and many places sell them.
I picked mine up off ebay for alot less then what they are offering though.

Rallitek sells them for $25.
Or you can just buy the HELP! Sparkplug antifoulers and drill one out, screw it into the other one and do that for $10.

Got the cat today as well as the spacer. Do I just need the one spacer for after the cat or do both sensor plugs need them?
I think I'm gonna have someone else install this, I don't feel like getting dripped on all day.

I believe you just need a spacer for the rear sensor from what ive heard.

Fuck.
So I had a shop *attempt* to install the cat, but one of the O2 sensors wouldn't reach. What's the best way to extend this? Are new sensors sold with a longer cable?

Ah, sounds like you have a car made to CARB standards. Those Stromung/Random cats are for the Federal cars. Your car is the same as mine, and Sybirs.
PM Sybir to see what P/N the extension harness is from Subaru... alternatively you can just extend the wiring yourself using crimp n solder...but I like the extension harness part because it is OEM plug n play fitment.

Thanks Huff, that's the answer I was hoping for, an OEM "fix it" part. I figured mine would be Federal for some reason. I'll PM him.

Post up when you get it... I might need it someday soon. :D

Apparently he found one off a car in the junk yard. So I'm searching the web now for a new replacement part. He said it's about 24" long.

I wonder if this would work?
http://store.summitracing.com/partdetai ... &N=700+150 (http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=CEI%2D109007&view=1&N=700+150)
I don't know how many wires are on the stock O2 sensor.
There are these 3 to choose from apparently:

Edit- On second thought, there may be a yard that I could go looking for an OEM harness. I'm assuming that would work if the harness was the correct length.

Ok. To your knowledge, would that universal 4 pin harness work?

I just found a post on Toronto Subarus that has a guy selling an extension 24" from an 04 Impreza:

Awesome, thanks Huffer. I sent him an email.
Actually I'm pretty sure my O2 sensors use 3-pin connectors. I think they might have switched to 4 wires later?

Is there a quick and easy way to determine how many wires mine would be?

look under the hood for the o2 harness plugs and trace which one is one..

Ok. Where would that be? I'm not familiar with the O2 sensors at all.

i believe stock the sit on top-near of the other engine harness plugs but mine float free. but your looking for a gray and white plug. on should be a trangle shape (grey) and a square shape (white)
look down from the passangers strut tower. under the torque box (or intake)

Awesome, thanks. I'm gonna go look at mine, but were you able to tell which plug goes to which sensor? I'll try to trace mine.

grey plug went to the front o2, square plug went to the rear o2. the only difference youll see between mine and yours is the square plug will have 4 wires going to the o2. mine only has 3. but is the same plug, square with 4 wires going into it
99SUS SFD

I just went and looked at mine. Mine is like yours, there's a square plug that has places for 4 wires. Going from the harness to the plug, there's 4 wires. But going from the plug to the O2 sensor there's 3 wires. But I'm assuming if I buy that guy's 4 plug extension I'll be ok?
Thanks a lot for the help decke.

So it turns out that the cable I bought doesn't work. There goes $65.
I think I'll start another thread specifically regarding this cable. The cat has been installed but I'm gonna have a CEL for now.

what was wrong with the cable? bat fitment or it just was the wrong harness.

01-28-2009, 05:38 PM
The shop said it wouldn't fit. I just checked it out though, and the extension fit the plug coming off the motor, but once I tried to see where the O2 sensor was, I realized it's no where near long enough. So whether or not the plug is the right fitment is a non-issue at this point.
Time to list the extension for sale...
