Hi, I'm new here. I live out in AZ. I got a Subaru because I had owned around 10 American cars in 8 years and the reliability was disheartening. I owned five K variant Mopar cars. I liked them because the components were very interchangable between models. A year after I got my '97 BK I learned that Subarus are just as interchangable. After three years it's been the most reliable vehicle I've owned. I bought it with 72,xxx on the clock and now it has 182,xxx. I do my own wrenching and I've only spent about a grand keeping it, for the most part, road worthy. I really need to replace the original suspension. :smt025

Did you put 110,000 miles on in three years?!?! And I thought I did a lot of driving with about 30,000 a year.

Welcome, yea Subarus inter change nicely. And the reliability isn't bad either, my 98 L just turned over 250K yesterday

Yeah, I used to really rack the miles up on it. I've only done about 20k over the last year. For two years I commuted to school and work daily @ 50 miles each. I was working as a Pizza Distribution Expert at the time as well. Then when I was off I would drive my friends everywhere.

I wish I had started forum cruising when I had more disposable income. I got myself a ready made family and they take all of my loot. I almost came up with a scheme to buy a wreaked WRX for $5000, but I didn't think a swap would be as easy as it is. If I had only known.

These are my plans for the future of my BK. I need to do some memory card maintainance on my camera before I can get some current pics. Here are some past pics:

I sold these and replaced them with much lighter snowflakes. (I bought these when I lived in the South and you just can't get respect there without some tight rims yo)

This picture is my laptop skin.

I want to keep my wagon (AKA Black Sunshine) simple. I have a huge pile of miles on it already(180k+) and I want lots more. My plan is to optimize it and make it Fisher-Price durable. I have a family of six.

The first step will be to get another Subi to drive during the garage time. I'm thinking 96+ Impreza Wagon or Forester. It can't cost more than my tax refund.

For the drive-train I want to do a very low budget WRX swap. I need to do a 5MT swap too. I think the 5MT might come before the 2.0l because my AT only shifts right when you get on it. Power mods will be desired but I won't do anything that will prevent me from easily passing emissions testing or affect the longevity. The formula is something like power x longevity x $$$$$.

I'm working on re-doing the suspension too. It's all stock-original, with the exception of the tie-rods and one wheel bearing. I'm pricing all of the Whiteline and KartBoy stuff.

For the exterior I am currently doing the black and white thing. I want to take it to the next level - two tone. I want black up to the line on the side and white on top. I want this done with bedliner spray. No more chips, dings, scratchs, waxing, or fading. I would like to get the JDM side markers and tint them as well as the rear lights.

For the interior I would like to make a custom fiberglass headliner with lots of hidden LED lighting, a ceiling console i have from a Pontiac, the above the mirror shade from a WRX, and a whole system amp frenched in the back(I really, really want a Memphis Belle). I'm going to build a custom slot-port box for my 12's. I currently have two 12's and two sets of 6.5 components that aren't installed. I want to sound proof it, get the Memphis Belle to run them, and find a HO alternator. In like ten years I can afford in dash DVD and screens to finish of the A/V. I plan to two tone the seats and door cards with something durable and washable (vinyl?). I want to have the headliner, speaker box, and dash trim sprayed with the white bedliner spray.

The goal is show-quality kid-proof.
