ok well my battery is entirely drained, charged it for 12 hours one night and it lasted 2 days so i went to autozone and got a duralast

i traded in my old battery cause i have no use for it and was putting the new one in my car...everything went smoothely until i was bolting on the negative terminal and part of it snapped and now i sometimes have to take it off, push it in, and put in back on so my car starts

my question is is there any way i could fix the terminal without getting a new one and if not then how exactly would i go about putting the new one on?

You broke the terminal on the battery? It's brand new, take it in for a warranty return.

Done.

not on the battery terminal connector whatever its called the thing on the wire you put on the battery...it didnt snap off just the one side snapped and it bends off the terminal

Seriously? Go to the autostore, pick up a replacement connector, and replace it.

we're in the midst of getting 5-10 inches of snow and freezing rain
plus at the moment i have no extra cash...reason for trying to fix it myself

a picture would help better describe what you are saying.. what i did with mine when it did that was get a bolt / nut that fit on it.. and just threaded it through the hole on the terminal connector till it was tight enough around the battery.

Also.. how did you know your battery was going dead.. did your lights get brighter when you revved the engine up or what? seems like i may be in need of a new battery soon myself.. damn winter weather!

The universal terminals are only a few ($3) at Autozone. Make sure you disconect the opposite terminal before installing.

Universals are basically what you need. an emergency way out. When the weather gets better, get a used factory one or a new one from the dealer.

Is this something that a zip tie can fix for the time being?

the entire thing snapped off so me and my dad just rigged it...put the metal ring around where the wire actually connects to the terminal and put a nail on the side so we could tighten it better works perfectly fine now

im tired of shit snapping on my car its mainly bolts which drives me nuts

Ah yes, the 'ol nail on the terminal trick. My Outback has been equipped with said modification.
